We do not win a playoff game without Cam at QB

I get it. I don’t disagree that we can beat teams with a good defense and a solid running game. I’m just saying come January, in a dream scenario where we make the playoffs, I feel we stand a better chance of competing for a Super Bowl (which is obviously always the goal not just making it to the playoffs) THIS YEAR with a healthy Cam Newton over Allen. Imagine going on the road to Seattle/New Orleans in the championship game. Do you feel better (with this much talent on the roster) with a healthy Cam or a healthy Allen? It is a team sport which is why we won on Sunday, but it was obvious that our QB play was well below Jacksonville. We had an out of this world game by CMC, we scored a TD on defense, and Minshew continued to keep them in the game until the last second. Idk of that works come January, I’d rather have Newton.

We'll have to play with the hand that has been dealt us. This is a well put together team that is clicking on all cylinders. I think we stand a chance with either QB. Cam would make this an amazing team, if he's at 100%, and Kyle has done something that is just amazing in its own right.

No reason to bash either guy or take away from the strengths of the team as a whole. Let's just keep cheering, it's a long way to February.

Allen is more than a game manager but Cam puts us over the top. I say you’re wrong on all accounts muffin.

I think we all can agree; Allen will never take over a game like Cam has Done on several occasions.

Here's it in a nutshell. QB awareness. Allen or Cam? Cam. I trust Cam with better pocket awareness. Accuracy. Allen or Cam? Allen for now. A healthy Cam is more lethal than Allen. Scrambling. Not even a question. We need Cam back. Im not saying Allen is a scrub he has managed and done well and taken what has came to him. But only 1 of the 3 games we played can we say he has done it with his arm. I think Cam will be back after the bye or after Tennessee. He should be practicing again the week of the bye. Bring him back slowly. Let him practice throwing in place with nothing but hip rotation and movement. Slowly increase his work load from bye week and let Allen play against the 49ers and see what he does the week of the Titans.

I know we have seen fumbles from Allen but I wouldn’t say Cam has better pocket awareness. I think Cam’s pocket awareness and his movement in and out of he pocket are pretty atrocious (unless healthy and on the run) and he has his fair share of fumbles himself. I’ve yet to see Cam make a throw while moving laterally. Cam has had 8 years+ to fix this. I’m hoping Allen can improve on that after only 4 games.

Sir this is a football forum. None of your highbrow literary references please. People will hound you out of here like Javert pursuing Jean Valjean across the ages.

I watched some really awesome theatre for Les miserables

I believe he took over the game in Arizona quite handily. Now, when he takes over a game, it won't look a thing like it does when Cam takes over a game. But there's nothing wrong with a QB hanging in the pocket and placing accurate passes throughout the game, moving the team and making plays happen.

Allen is doing really well, amazingly considering his experience and draft position. There's no reason to downgrade what he has brought to the table because some see him as a threat to Cam. Cam's apparently one of Kyle's biggest fans. Be like Cam.

Allen looked like a quality QB against Ari and he managed the game perfectly. He in no way took over the game or even tried to. He did what a traditional QB does and got the ball to his playmakers.

However, if Cam is healthy he has the ability and athleticism to take over a game and he gives us the best chance to win.  Now, if you want to have a conversation if that’s actually good for our team or not. It’s certainly debatable.

At this point we have seen the best of Cam and it wasn’t good enough to win a Superbowl. I really hope he proves me wrong, comes back and crushes teams on the way to a lombardi.

What I think a lot of people aren't considering is this.

What is Cam's new 100% because we know it will not be his 2015 100% time and weight loss alone make that impossible.

At his new 100% is he still willing to run fearless? Or will he try to only stay in the pocket?

If it's the latter we might have a better chance with Kyle.

Plus we don't know where Kyle is at the end of the year. Most likely he will only get better as he sees more and more defenses.

People talk about Dilfer but the Steelers won with Big Ben as a 2nd year player and while he was a future super star they limited his throwing and won with defense and running.

We can win with or without Cam.

There's 52 other players on this team.

Some very good points here. Cam's new normal is an unknown. We can hope it is great, but it would be foolish to expect it's exactly what it has been in the past. At the very least with his injury history at age 30 and with CMC in his backfield that he will run less. My only thing about Kyle is that while I certainly hope he gets better as he sees more defenses, it's also possible he struggles as defenses get more and more tape on him. To me that situation is a coin flip, could go either way, but at minimum I think what we've seen from him is promising at worst.

There is also tons of talent on this roster. We just need some of it that is not named Cam to also get healthy. I wonder how good Minshew would have looked if Donte Jackson was on the field sunday.

Moot point.

If Cam can't play anymore if he's less than 100%, Cam won't be available.
