So in our last 5 games, we have allowed 3 plus goals in each one resulting in only 1 win because we scored 6. So glad we decided to stick with what we have in net and not making any moves.

I did like how Ned played last night. He was pitching a shutout until that dumbass pass.

Pesce is done for the season, trading for an injured Sami Vatanen and a tentative Trochek and no goaltending. I don't see the upside here. The only trade making sense to me is Skeij.

3 points out of a playoff spot with 15 games left- and the weekend against the Islanders and Penguins. It doesn't look good.

If we don't win 1 of the next 2 we're done.  We're probably done anyway but that's a definite.

Skjei is real.

Vatanen setback is disappointing.

Trocheck looks disappointing but has shown flashes.

Ned and Forsberg have been exactly what you expect but I was hoping Ned would show out since that's what we need eventually is a freaking franchise goaltender.

We just look flat and defeated.  We'll get something going and then give up a goal.  We might as well start every game down 2-0.  I don't get it.

It's not over but it's almost over.

Canes just sent Ned back down.

Mrazek is on the road trip and has been working during practice, so maybe he's ready.

Much better weekend than I anticipated- thought the Islanders game would be tough and the Pens a sure loss. Boy am I glad I was wrong (still iffy on the high stick assist- might have gotten away with one there).

Got killed with penalties yesterday (6?) and still managed to dominate what looks like an aging and slow Penguins team. Thought the Canes took a physical beating in NY and fully expected a tired and slower squad yesterday. And yes, I was geeked for the kid playing his first game yesterday.

    • I forgot about Jackson...definitely elite.  The sad part of your list is that 2 of them were 'there for the taking for the Panthers'.  Rumor has it that Hurney loved Herbert and was vetoed on trying to trade up.  And rumor has it that Frank & McCown wanted Stroud.  I believe both rumors.
    • I went on a solo elk hunt in the Flat Tops. It was awesomely miserable. LOL It was a late season hunt, I think third season and it was forecasted to snap off cold with highs in the upper thirties and lows in the single digits. fug it, I'm going anyway. They were wrong. The highs were in the low 20s and the lows were in the negative teens. I shivered so hard the first night I thought my teeth were going to break. It was the only time I've ever been legit concerned that I might be in trouble. Crawled out of my sleeping bag and got a fire started and suffered through the night bundled up next to the fire. I slept the next two nights literally wearing every stitch of clothing I'd brought with Nalgenes full of near boiling water in the bottom of my sleeping bag. That was the only way to have non-frozen water in the morning anyway. There was about a foot of snow on the ground and the melt/freeze crust was almost enough to support your weight but you'd go crashing through just as you went or make your step. It was exhausting travel and every step sounded like a rifle shot. Hunting was basically impossible. I never saw an elk in those four days, only saw 5-6 deer. LOL It was brutal but I loved it. Absolutely beautiful country that is never been to before and haven't been back since. I needed that four day complete break from society fighting for my life against the elements. I'm weird like that.
    • The lack of production is especially surprising given how much effort the team put into coaxing the best from him.  In just six short years he’s had the opportunity to work with 3 different GMs, 7 different head coaches and 10 different starting quarterbacks.  There’s literally no excuse to be made that one of those combos didn’t work.  It might be time to look withIAN.
