I don't know if it's just the coincidence of having two extremely talented players in Cam and CMC, but Ron's staffs sure have seemed hell-bent on running the entire offense through one guy.

look, there isn't a safety or linebacker in the league that can cover CMC. Hell, most cornerbacks probably can't cover him. So why don't we come out in a 2RB set and motion CMC into the slot?

I get the Norv criticism obviously. But at what point do you ask what level of involvement Rivera has in all this? Why are we seeing the same distinct brand of stubbornness in use of personnel through two different offensive coordinators?

Mixed feelings about this.  On one hand, I am not  big fan of Norv.  He ran some great offenses with the Cowgals and Chargers, but hasn't done much since.

 

On the other hand,  CMC is one of our most effective players on offense, so its hard not to use him.

How many days ago did we complain that RR is an idiot because he doesn't rely on his stars more, and rotates lesser talented people in?

But anyways, when you have an extremely green QB, it makes sense to lean on your star RB a bit more than you normally would.  As Allen gets experience, CMC won't be as vital every down.

Cause we’re...not...? We pretty consistently split carries under Shula. We ran a lot of 2 TE sets under Chud. There are drastically different offensive philosophies/personnel groupings under our three different coordinators so I’m not sure how you suggest that Rivera is behind it.

Seems like he gives his offensive coordinators control and free reign to run the offense however they see fit. Which isn’t the worst thing in the world for a defensive guy...I’d rather that, than him meddling with the offense.

If you mean Samuel, he does get a significant amount of touches or targets in the passing game.  I saw that him, Moore, and CMC are tied for the lead in number of targets.  But Samuel gets a higher percentage of deep throws.

The lack of touches for other backs should probably tell us something about the confidence level our staff has in those other backs.  Norv did a great job of lightening the load on LaDainian when Sproles finally broke through.
