I listen to the Pat McAfee show and this was a topic I thought a few of you might be interested in. I figured it was relevant because we've had a few PI calls reviewed that clearly should've been overturned... but we know how that turned out

Take a look:

Video 100% on point

The reason the new challenges aren't working is because the NFL still isn't addressing the other problem in the  room. The officials don't think they can be held accountable. They are humans like everyone else, some are probably assholes. They don't like being told they're wrong, they probably don't like getting yelled that. They'll get indignant just to keep the upper hand.  The NFL has backed them and coddled them because they represent the shield and think they can't be overturned. Until that stops you're still going to get BS calls.  Taking the review away from the on field ref doesn't seem to work because the official they all refer to is backing them up all the way.

I didn't watch the video but I was contemplating this as the games were on Sunday and it seemed to me that for whatever reason they decided not to overturn any of them. They will keep it in their back pocket and can pull it out if there is a repeat of what caused them to be pressured into making it challengeable in the first place.

I ended up thinking we will see fewer and fewer challenges as they are clearly not overturning calls, coaches will hesitate to waste a challenge, and NFL has what they want. Which apparently is blind or crooked refs running wild and deciding outcomes.
