McDermott had to remove Belichick’s son from sideline

Mangini who worked with BB for years said regarding this topic that teams will run through formations they run during the game in pregame and the Pats like to watch to see if there is anything new they haven’t seen on tape or if someone is lining up in a different place than where they normally would. They can also see who might be the backup at some positions when guys are rotated through.

Not really anything groundbreaking but it is some more information you can use to your advantage so you aren’t caught off guard. But again if you are showing your secrets during pregame where 70k people can watch you then you’ve got bigger problems. Like great you got 2 people off the field, did you account for someone in the booth or the media who might tweet it out?

Okay that makes sense. But are there even any rules about when non players can be on the field prior to the game? Like if the son had had said to McDermott “No I’m comfortable here thanks.” would McDermott be able to do anything?

Pretty sure the guy who got caught stealing signals was an anonymous "who the hell is that guy" type.

Like I said, it may be paranoid, but Belichick gives people plenty of reasons to be.

Well the difference is that guy was videotaping. There are no rules about members of the coaching staff which both of those guys are being on the field and watching.

There are loads of people on any given sideline though.

I would assume teams put a lot of effort into making sure that everybody who's there is legitimately supposed to be, but the Patriots have shown it's possible to get away with a lot of things.

Love him or hate him, Belichick is certainly one to leave no stone unturned. I don't blame McDermott at all.

You can love him or hate him, but the big mistake would be to trust him.

If I saw a three year old toddling around on the sideline and found out it was Belichick's grandson, I'd probably think the little one was up to something.

I think you’re being very unfair to a kid just trying to earn a popsicle. Besides if that kid can figure out what formations you plan to run during nap time, there’s probably a job waiting for him on the Miami staff.

Maybe, but that little Gizmopal watch he was wearing did look kind of suspicious.

I don't think they can get anything from warmups. However, I do not blame McDermott for wanting them off their field if that is not accepted.

The  teams coaches discussing the playbook or conversation about plays (eavesdropping)which was brought up here. Anybody can get anything they want if they were or are close enough to listen and or see.
