One Franchise tag.....Shaq and Bradberry who do you choose?

Bradberry's value is the same as it was in the offseason. Only the fans looked down upon him.

They weren't going to extend Shaq for the money that he'd demand without seeing him starting for a full season.

Find some.other reason to bitch about Hurney. Hell, just make up some more poo, see what sticks.

No, it's not.

Every day that he gets closer to free agency, the price tag goes up.

Very end of last season, after a not so good defensive year, with a full offseason, training camp, and regular season ahead of him....meaning a TON of instances where he could have a season, or career ending injury....that's when you flash the dollars in front of him.  2nd rounders haven't made very much money yet, they aren't like top 15 players where they are likely pretty set up for life already and can afford to bet on themselves.

Add in that Ron is supposed to be calling the plays, we got more help on the pass rush, and you could almost guarantee that Bradberry was going to look better this year rather than last.

It was stupid of us not to sign him in the offseason...now he just has to make it through the rest of the season healthy, and free agency it right there, he got more expensive.

Both guys are playing lights out right now in what is basically a contract year. Both are actively increasing their value and street price tag with each and every game we play.

And that's fine. Don't lock anything in right now. Let them keep setting that bar higher and higher.

We need the wins now and their best performances ever.

Worry about the rest in mid-February.

It actually doesn’t make cutting him any harder at all. Say we saved $8M for this year and don’t use it. That’s $8M we can rollover into next year. The cost of cutting KK next year is $8M, the amount we moved forward into future years, more than it would have been. They offset each other and we have a net of $0 in lost cap space.

Not how it works.

So, since we didn't need the restructure (almost always a bad move with aging players) to sign McCoy, why was it done?

You effectively added guaranteed money or dead cap to KK's deal next year to free up cap space this year that we didn't need.  And if a need did occur at any time during the season, the restructures could have been executed immediately in season.

It's cap mismanagement, it's not a major issue, just didn't need to happen, but it will cost the team a few extra million dollars if we have to part ways with KK this upcoming offseason.

It's funny how not too long ago the majority of people on this board were calling for Shaq to be cut to save money this season.

Those fools always pop up when a guy isn't playing at an ALL-Pro level. Same ones that wanted Samuel cut or snaps given to Byrd...

Crazy bunch we have around here.

Been saying for a LONG time that we needed to extend Bradberry.  I keep getting hit with responses of "he has to take a team friendly deal", or "he isn't elite, where are the PICKS", or whatever stupid poo people used to say about him on here.

Yeah, its almost as if shutting down the opposing team's #1 WR game after game after game earns no merit from some fans.

It has to be the strangest thing I have witnessed here, and I've been around....ya know (bad reference).

I can only guess the hatred for DG and his picks must have tainted the glasses the wrong color.

All that guy has done is work hard, keep his mouth shut, never miss a game, and shut down no. 1's week in and week out.

In the absence of KK, if Butler goes on to have a solid season, what will they have left, I wonder?

Baby Kalil, Norman, and Smitty?

Speaking of Butler, wasn't a fan honestly, really wanted Hunter Henry....but he's had a tough go of it as well.

Crap shoot.

    • Yes.  And this converts directly to confidence.  Does the coach have confidence to call a deep dig or seam route?  Does Bryce have confidence in his ability to be the Alpha?  Do his teammates have confidence.  About film--when I see Cam Newton's pre-snap confidence vs. Bryce's, it is night and day.   Film--tells you if the WRs are open (why l love watching the Replay telecasts from the end zone cameras--you can see it.  I have seen 2 WRs open and Bryce's eyes are on the outlet WR or the pass rush. )  You can see progressions, and he has improved a bit--but he is very quick to rush through 1 and 2 and checkdown--that is a lack of confidence in his ability to read the defense.  I had a former NFL TE (Deems Maye) who played QB in high school (not sure about college) tell me that the best QBs read the defense by knowing where everyone will be when the ball is to arrive--not where they are.  I think his QB at the time was Humphries.  He said that Humphries would throw the ball into coverage before the cuts etc.  because he understood DB momentum, zone areas, etc.  and he could just see it.  Said so when people say nobody was open, they are usually right because nobody should be "open" when the QB has the ball--when the ball arrives, everyone should be open.  He said Humphries was never "great" but his skills were limited--from a small school--but his ability to read a defense made him never give up on a route.
