Dumbass senator Richard Burr voted in favor of tax cuts for white billionaires and is fine with Bezos not paying any taxes but is raging over this and wants to tax predominately black under 21 year olds their scholarships. What a moron

What they should do is make the athletes who are being paid actually pay their own tuition, room, board, etc...

...and take the athletic scholarship money and give it to smart kids who are poor and would otherwise leave school with a ton of student loan debt.

Win - Win.

This is a horrible idea

these kids get a free ride for a college education worth tens of thousands of $$...that’s plenty...if they want to make money, go pro

Effectively that's what is happening -- they are going pro.

With all that income they should pay their own way through school....

....leave the scholarships for kids who are actually students and don't have the funds to attend college without accumulating a bunch of debt.

Is this a Carolina Panthers board or a politics message board? Damn man, it seems almost every thread I've read tonight eventually turned into some political bullshit.

As for the actual topic of this thread. I honestly couldn't care less. Doesn't affect me whatsoever.

Folt is a tool...trustees got rid of her...she’s out in California now, making more lousy leftist policy...totally in her element

This is nothing but excuse making by people in denial of whether there was an actual problem. You can whinge about Folt's politics all you want, that doesn't change the fact there was mountains of evidence and information brought to light and reported by numerous news outlets showing flat out unethical behavior. You obviously didn't read the information I presented earlier in this thread.

UNC HAD IT'S ACADEMIC ACCREDITATION PLACED ON PROBATION OVER THIS SCANDAL. THAT IS NOT FAKE NEWS AND IT IS NOT SOMETHING THAT HAPPENS TO MAJOR UNIVERSITIES OVER NOTHING.

Feel free to bury your head in the sand over this and deny reality if you want. I really don't give a flip, I'm done debating this issue with people who are in denial about the facts and instead trot out tired irrelevant arguments about things like rival schools and the political leanings they don't like of someone involved. Irrelevant is irrelevant. Good day sir.

Any exchange with Wal Mart UNC fans usually goes like that.  It's reminiscent of arguing with very loyal supporters of a certain individual.

its hilarious that people think football players are getting an education.   a few of them, yeah, the most of them - nope.  i like hearing The Golden Calf of Bristol talk about keeping it holistic - he learned a new word - and keeping the focus on education.  i wanna ask him so desperately in front of a camera - how many guys on your florida team couldn't read?

and unc, good lord am a born and bread tarheel and they fell from grace hard.  can't live of dean's legacy forever and they proved that.

Does it cost the school tens of thousands of dollars to educate a student or better yet an athlete?  In actuality they are making millions off these kids. And they can't go pro without going through the process which includes college.

If California is doing it, it must be a good thing right?  They've never made bad policy for bad reasons only to beg the Fed for a hand out?

Fug Cali.

Did you know people log onto message boards and post their opinions in California?  Sounds like you should log out and never post again.

Did you know that purple smells like 13?  Looks like you should drop muffins in a brown shoe.

What are you yapping about?
