Again, I am for the players being fairly compensated and I agree that they are exploited  from everyone involved including the NCAA and TV networks.

however, this is going to make cheating easier and this will be taken advantage of by programs. We all know that if a top player commits to duke - their parents get a cushy “consulting” job from Nike and a house in Colvard Farms. Not to mention the insane amounts of cash that is passed around there from boosters.

commit to duke - we will hook your parents up with a 200k job from Nike and give you an exclusive endorsement deal with a really nice neighborhood. we will even let you work on your duke “degree” at nearby NC-Central and give you bullshit classes. What a unethical, unscrupulous cheating cesspool of corruption in Durham.

Teams like Clempson, UK, Bama, duke, Ohio State will exploit the hell out of this and it will basically end the idea of amateurism.

This is nothing more than you going right back to pointing the finger at programs you don't like while refusing to acknowledge that the problems include the one you support. Paying players under the table within a system which generates over a billion annually in revenue bothers me far less than signing them up for classes that are bs. Yet here you are, after being confronted with so much evidence of UNC committing this sin that you're literally too lazy to read it, and you're still pointing the finger at Duke for the very thing your school had it's academic accreditation put on probation for.

If you want to call somewhere else an unethical unscrupulous cheating cesspool of corruption for something it hasn't been caught doing but yours was to a degree and scope unprecedented in college sports, that's the textbook definition of hypocrisy.

As to the idea of amateurism, that died a long time ago chief. It's now just a convenient fiction where revenue sports are concerned that the NCAA uses as part of it's self serving justification to continue to exploit athletes while compensating them only with a scholarship they are often ill suited for and putting them into a system that leaves them little opportunity to take advantage of it.

Nice deflection. In case you need a reminder, UNC was exonerated by the NCAA of any wrong doing. The “fake classes” stuff is totally Incorrect. These classes were real, available to the student body and required work to pass. But please don’t let facts get in the way of your narrative.

You have single handedly flipped this thread from a civil discussion about student athlete rights to a full on obsession about UNC. the audacity of you to wag your widdle finger at UNC and try to justify the cheating going on in Durham yet call me a hypocrite is a real knee slapper. dozens of foolish things are said on this forum daily but this one is a real doozy. #HuddleLogic

No you’re deflecting. I just presented you with a mountain of evidence that tons of wrongdoing was going on . The university admitted it. The fact you won’t read it does not change reality.

And yes you are being a total hypocrite about this. Period. The finger wagging and accusations came from you. The hard evidence came from me. I’m done discussing this with you because your position is divorced from reality on this topic. Your head is so firmly in the sand that discussion is pointless.

UNC did not admit to any wrong doing. If they did, they wouldn’t have been prepared to take the NCAA to a court of law and they wouldn’t have been cleared by the NCAA. Why can’t you comprehend this? How old are you?

you Are the typical dook “fan” boy. Obsessed with UNC and completely head in sand with the massive amounts of cheating and unethical behavior of your own team. I bet if I found your twitter account, it would be full of RTs of anti-UNC propaganda and fake news. Grow up!

For the first time since the scandal first came to light five years ago, UNC admitted that the wrongdoing went further than academics and involved its athletic programs.
In fact, Folt said, "it was a university issue."

Per this already cited article you’re too lazy to read

https://www.cnn.com/2014/10/22/us/unc-report-academic-fraud/index.html

Thats the university chancellor admitting what you keep denying. Now STFU with your nonsense. I’m done with you.

LOL that article is almost 6 years old and completely irrelevant. It was an obvious hit piece by Sara Ganim. While I admit that there were a few academic irregularities, the notion that there were completely fake classes designed to keep athletes eligible is erroneous. Meanwhile at duke, Zion was taking classes where he was acting out Disney movies and talking about rap songs. Hmmmmmm

Whether they should be allowed to sign deals and be paid is a legitimate debate.

however, this bill is ridiculous and has no legal standing.  College athletes are governed by the ncaa.

Big surprise the NCGOP is trying to put an end to this. They are going to make damn sure the black kids are taxed.

Dumbass senator Richard Burr voted in favor of tax cuts for white billionaires and is fine with Bezos not paying any taxes but is raging over this and wants to tax predominately black under 21 year olds their scholarships. What a moron
