I knew switching to the 3-4 defense wouldn't bode well for the run defense. Less big bodies on the field to slow down the run. Good news is teams are running less and less these days so it might not matter as much as we think. Bad news is the Panthers play some good running teams this year. The Jaguars next week being one of them.

Yeap thats a matchup made in hell in terms of a road grading run blocking oline vs our ailing 3-4 run defense.

It might not matter too much. The Jags barely beat the trash Broncos. I know winning in Denver is hard but, that team is bottom 5 this year. If the Panthers can get an early lead at home against a rookie QB and pin their ears back on defense, it could be a blowout win for the Panthers.

Only way I see the Jaguars winning next week is if they manage to take an early lead, make Kyle Allen to win the game on his own and force him to make mistakes (they have a good pass rush of their own), then they can grind it out on the ground. Panthers pass rush should be able to get to Minshew. They got to Deshaun Watson who is a masterful escape artist. Minshew is riding on pure swag and adrenaline right now, and after a few rough sacks it will wear off.

everytime i watch the Jags they seem to be run blocking very poorly.

Actually, I don't think it's nearly as bad as we fear.  While we have a base 3-4, we have shown multiple 4-3 sets as well.  In short, if we think the Jags are going to run, there is nothing preventing us from going with Mario / KK / Gerald / Irvin as a 4 man front with Kuechly / Shaq / Burns behind them.
