slightly overthrown... Perhaps with more reps that is a completion, but it is overthrown, albeit barely.

No, I do not think it was.  To underthrow that is a pick.  He put that ball the only place it could be--where his guy had a chance to catch it and the other guy did not.  That is the rule on a deep ball.

Look, when the WR is running and has to look back, he becomes slower.  He may alter his speed to gain position.  You cannot blame the QB when the ball is six inches beyond where it could have been.

That ball was nearly perfect and should have been caught.  It would have been a great catch, but it was in his hands and the defender could not touch it.  Not overthrown.

The problem with that throw is that it needed to be about a yard to the left so Samuel could have kept his eye on the ball the entire time. It forced an adjustment and Samuel had to turn his head find the ball as it came over the top of him. If it’s over his left shoulder rather than his right shoulder then it is 6.

not if he drops it in the bucket. gotta throw with a little more touch. again, it's not egregious. but by your own words it was a throw that was uncatchable. too long for samuel but any shorter and it gets swatted down. it was baffling to see the praise for that throw in the game thread because it truly wasn't impressive.

How does me saying “that is more than catchable” register to you as me admitting it was uncatchable? I’m not sure how anyone can watch that GIF and say in good faith that it was uncatchable lol, for an NFL receiver no less. It hit him in the palm of his hand...it wasn’t his fingertips. It was literally a perfect pass in that it was thrown just beyond the reach of the defender while giving the receiver more than a fair shot at making the play. If I’m not mistaken, the replay showed the CB mauling Samuel’s left hand which is why he had to reach with one hand.

I agree that the deep throw to Samuel on the PI was horribly underthrown, but I’m not sure how you can say that pass in the GIF was objectively unimpressive. That was probably the prettiest deep pass we’ve seen in over a season.

yeah samuel should have just stretched out and pinched that ball with his index and thumb lol. after all these years of hearing about cam's ball placement and lack of touch this is what we have to look forward to post-cam. just wonderful.

Oh okay you’re one of those insecure Cam guys...never mind. That explains it lol. Just call me a racist and let’s get it over with I guess.

If you consider this an overthrow/inaccurate pass, then I'm not sure how any QB can live up to your standards.

(I've never posted a GIF before so hopefully this works)

Edit: nope that did not work...please hold for technical difficulties.

Allen.gif

That would’ve been more an amazing catch than perfect pass, hopefully more deep attempts will make this nearly an automatic 6 in the future

No.  He is showing how much he does not know about football.  That ball is NOTHING to criticize--anyone doing so has no idea.

I’m trying to think how long it’s been since a pass like that has been completed on this team. That’s as close as I recall in a few years.

Snark + dismissiveness are not the ingredients to furthering serious discourse. He already basically admitted to being so triggered by the audacity of people admiring a throw by a certain Panthers QB that he felt inspired to go out of his way to try and dig up statistics to discredit our current QB and prove these supporters wrong.

It’s not hard to see what his motivations are. I’m fairly certain if I actually cared enough to dig up his post history, we’d find that he’s one of those people who take any praise of Allen as a slight towards Cam. Do you think I’m wrong?
