Bottom Line on Allen in this game.

Why is it so hard for Panther fans on the Huddle to pull for our team without the sideways comparisons and debbie downers. It doesn't matter what Cam could do if he was healthy, HE'S NOT. Let's appreciate the fact that many of, including myself, did agree with us keeping Allen over Heinicke and its Allen that's saving the day, one game at a time.

I think most of us do.  Some just want to yap about Cam, or about those that don't like Cam.

If Cam is under center, I want to see him do well. If he is not under center, then I want to see whomever is do well.  End of story.

For context the Panthers were rebuilding the defense in 2011 and 2012. Our secondary was a joke, we were starting Sione Fua, Jon Beason was on his way out, and Luke didn't become who he is now until 2013 after he finally got to start at his natural position.

The Panthers QB in 2019 has a much better defensive unit overall from top to bottom compared to 2011 and 2012. Really it isn't even close.

And an offensive coordinator who was more interested in helping us win versus padding his coaching resume.

Yet despite that Newton was still the undisputed ROTY.

On that note how many other QB's have led their team to the Super Bowl throwing to Ted Ginn as their primary?

So many hazy memories around here.

Meanwhile these upstarts around the league (Mahomes, Watson, Goff, etc.) are surrounded by offensive talent almost to the point of suffocation (Mahomes in particular) makes me appreciate the force of nature Cam once was.

All but one.

The offensive line was blamed for Cam's fumbles this year. No reason to change that now.

My biggest concern about Allen is he has to develop a pocket sense (or whatever we have that can laughingly be called a pocket) so he feels the pressure around him, which should take care of the fumbles.

My next biggest concern is that our OL will get him murdered (too) unless he develops the pocket presence of Joe Montana in the next six days.

Overall, you don't get extra credit for a win's aesthetic value.  Ask New Orleans last night.  When your starting QB is out, you have to take the W's without questioning them.  Ugly wins count just as much as pretty ones.

I've also said that I don't take aesthetics into any judgement from September games.  The goal coming out of September is to somehow come out not in a hole in the standings and be more of a well-oiled machine than you were the Sunday after Labor Day.  Despite the loss of Cam, the Panthers at least look better now than they did in week one.  The defense has certainly come together and we have seen some evidence that wide receivers are not just rumors.  CMC was a known commodity and lived up to that.

What Mahomes has done in a mere few seasons is unheard of. Absolutely he has immense talent, but Andy Reid is ultimately responsible for his lightning quick progression so far. Imagine what this franchise could have done with a similar offensive minded coach who just happened to walk into a transcendental talent at QB in Newton?

Even look at Goff in LA. You see how he played yesterday? McVay took that guy to the Super Bowl last year and nearly won it if not for Cooks alligator arming a sure touchdown.

Well, the name was actually Legedu Naanee.

And what was memorable about him was his total lack of body control. When he tried to jump for a pass, it was like all his limbs picked a different direction to go in.

If he'd had a green uniform, he'd have been Gumby on stilts.

We lost every game last year that Cam threw at least 1 pick, except for 1.  But, what do I know.. LUL.

Cam is hurt. I don't mind Allen at all. When Cam is considered to be healthy and still plays like poo, then I will make my judgement. As of right now Kyle is this best option may turn out to be permanently. Cam is a? right now. I think Cam should sit entire yr even if we make playoffs and is healthy, unless fKyle starts playing awful. The people who are here just bashing Cam for the record of last yr and 2 games loss this yr are the ones who really never wanted him here anyways. Should be bashing the coaches for not pulling the cord on Newton earlier when u could clearly see something not right. I do believe he would still be playing now if it was up to Ron.

yep, we'd be 3-1 or 4-0 had cam been honest.

Agree, but hind sight is always 20/20.  I'm just glad that we have someone that can keep us in contention while Cam gets healthy.  Everyone, including myself, thought the Panthers' front office made a huge mistake in the off season by not signing a vet QB to back up Cam.
