He's really chill for posting this.  What he brings to a team at 100% is one of the most dynamic and fun styles to ever grace the game.  Hopefully this doesn't linger like it did in others' careers with similar injuries.

I wish someone confirm. Someone said they were never the same, I'm assuming they skipped surgery.

Let’s be honest here. Half of this board knew something wasn’t right with Cam early on in the Bucs game. He was even visibly limping and his throws were off. The coach needs to make the call to pull him. These players are on another level with their competitiveness and will try to play hurt. It’s the coach’s team and up to him to make these calls. I’ll give Ron a pass for the Rams game, but not the Bucs. Not to mention the second half of last year when the entire league knew Cam’s shoulder was hurt and Ron kept playing him. Hell, Ron shouldn’t have even put his newly healed QB out in the field in a preseason game, especially one where his offensive line was playing like crap. People will want to blame Cam and he will take them blame, but these decisions fall on the coach. Trying to have DWill play LT shows the stubbornness of this coach. Bottom line is Ron needs to go and Cam needs to get healthy in order for this franchise to go forward. Even if we have something with Allen, Ron needs to still go.

From the way Cam made it sound, I dont think Ron knew about the full extent of the Injury until after the Bucs game. He said he hid it.

Yeah but the part where he’s talking about limping in practice, he’s being very candid but he’s also protecting Ron and Norv a little bit too

I was at the Tampa game. I knew from the first series something wasn’t right. I also knew in the LA game, because I was there too. The play calls, compared to last season’s week one game, were entirely void of quarterback option runs. Cam was bulldozing people in the run game against Dallas last year in the season opener. And it’s pretty obvious, if that component of cam’s game goes away, a big part of his threat to the defense evaporates. That’s why rehabilitating this foot is so crucial.

I think the primary difference is that I don't think many if any root for Ron to fail and show hatred for who he is as a person. Even though I would like to see a change at head coach at head coach I would love for Ron to prove me wrong because he genuinely seems like a great guy.

I would respectfully disagree with that...or at least challenge if that distinction is relevant. Is it okay to hate him as a coach and not a person if that entails repeatedly calling him names like “moRON” and calling him a dumbass and someone just saying a few posts down that he’s a “pussy”, etc.? Is that justified under the guise of “no no as a person he seems like a great guy”, when the end result is that degree of vitriol?

Perhaps people don’t explicitly root for him to fail, but multiple people on multiple occasions have thrown out the kind of silver lining of “hey it’s a win/win...if we suck this season then at least Ron will get fired”. That in itself is at least in part rooting for him to fail.

You do seem to have a more rational and levelheaded take so I respect that...I have no issues with that stance and I would even consider myself in the same boat as you, despite what people think of me as a Ron nuthugger or whatever.

Ron needs consistency to win respect as a coach. The greatest coaches of all time are coaches that have consistent success with multiple teams a, QBs, etc. being able to adapt.

Good coaches are consistent with the gift they’ve been given. Who knows how Mcvay, Payton, Belicheck would do without their QBs.

Average coaches seems to be in that category where they do one thing really well (like build a defense) but need a crutch where ever that might be and a lot of times that’s the root of the inconsistency a deficiencies

To answer your questions I have no doubt it will help but in the grand scheme of things respect doesn’t come after a season but consistency.

I agree and I’m not saying if he takes us to the playoffs this season that we should necessarily hail him as a great coach...only to put to bed the notion that Rivera is nothing without Cam and Cam has carried him throughout his entire career (which is pretty widely accepted here). It’s hard to expect him to display that he can win without Cam consistently, as that would require multiple seasons without Cam which would probably mean he’s off the team altogether. But I would even consider a sample size of 1/1 playoff seasons without Cam as pretty significant.

I don’t remember anyone blasting Rivera for playing Thomas Davis in the Super Bowl with a broken freaking arm...only everyone showing admiration for his determination and grit. You think Davis would accept being benched there? Cam has that same love and passion for the game as Davis...so I’m sure he did everything possible to convince Ron he was okay.

Yeah I know Cam obviously gets so much unwarranted hate and criticism from a particular subset of the fanbase...but I also feel like there is another prominent subset of Huddlers who coddle Cam to a weird degree that no other player gets. It’s like he’s infallible and anything remotely negative he does gets deflected onto others.

Those two groups are insufferable one group is ready to take a shot at Cam if he sneezes wrong, the second group is on pens and needles all the time that if you say Kyle Allen had a good game on Sunday they think you taking a diss at Cam and there's an agenda behind it.

So the first surgery was a temporary fix that didn’t work? Why didn’t they just do the permanent fix first?

Definitely the most significant piece of information in the video.

Runs completely counter to what the press and fans were told.  In fact, they were told the exact opposite....

....2nd surgery was just a "cleanup of scar tissue" blah blah blah.

Going forward the press and fans shouldn't believe anything Rowboat or Hurndog or any homer reporter says about anything....truly bizarre.

Both can be true.

Ron almost certainly knew Cam was still hurt and lied about it to not let the opponents know so they still had to gameplan that he could run. Also so it didn’t get targeted in a pile. You don’t call 1 QB run for Cam Newton in 2 games without knowing something is up.

Cam was also hiding just how bad it actually was and that it was affecting literally everything he did. He says he was thinking about his foot every play and not letting anyone get close to it when he was in the pocket and trying to not step into wrong when he was throwing.

An accurate description of the NFL as it currently exists....

    • They don't. Add in a player like LaMelo Ball, who selectively plays when he feels like it, and you cannot compete. If your highly paid players refuse to play full time, what can you do?

    • Wow, what hard hitting journalism DJ.  What's next?  The sky is blue?  Water is non-compressible?  =P I'm totally down for trading down and acquiring more picks.  We have spent a TON of picks on failed QBs (Darnold and Baker) and paid a king's ransom for Bryce.  We need more talent, more picks, more shots at the dartboard of NFL talent!
