Yeah some people here thought Ron was lying about Cam not being injured. Turns out Cam was trying to hide it.

Rivera 100% new Cam was injured. You don't work side by side with someone for 9 years and not know when they are trying to hide something from you. Just like Cam took accountability for being his own worst enemy, RIvera needs to know when he needs to step in and make a decision. He's the head coach fro crying out loud.

A lot of clarity,

Out of all the stuff he’s battled through, Who’d know a foot injury would hamper him the most, but it makes the most since for a guy needing to step in his throws to avoid strain on his shoulder after surgery and one of the most dominant rushing qbs in the nfl.

im a lot more hopeful we will see more cam

from the first 8 games last year when he returns, that’s scary man

Both can be true.

Ron almost certainly knew Cam was still hurt and lied about it to not let the opponents know so they still had to gameplan that he could run. Also so it didn’t get targeted in a pile. You don’t call 1 QB run for Cam Newton in 2 games without knowing something is up.

Cam was also hiding just how bad it actually was and that it was affecting literally everything he did. He says he was thinking about his foot every play and not letting anyone get close to it when he was in the pocket and trying to not step into wrong when he was throwing.

So the first surgery was a temporary fix that didn’t work? Why didn’t they just do the permanent fix first?

Wondered that as well. Also why didn’t they do the permanent fix after the 2017 season? Rather than waiting another year.

Feel like something has to be lost in translation there between Cam and the doctors.

Only thing I can possibly think of is that they thought there would be scar tissue build up that they would have to go back and cleanup at some point but hoped it wouldn’t be necessary. His arm strength was fine in 2017 the year after the first surgery. He was slinging deep balls against the Saints in the playoffs.

Cam said what I’ve been saying that a lot of you are still not trying to hear.

While many of you have blamed the medical specialists and raked Ron and other various staff over the coals, ultimately this all came down to Cam being honest with the staff about his physical well-being.

Rehab is a two way street and the player has to be honest and self-aware about where they stand with their function.

Great video. Love our QB.  Of course he’s going to say he can play. He’s a warrior and has given his body for the team for 9 years. Ron knew he was hurt, there’s no denying that either. And should have had a more difficult conversation than “you good? Ok you good. I’ll keep riding your coattails”

Enjoyed the video. I also like that Cam has this platform to be able to speak openly and honestly without the trash local media and ESPN intentionally misrepresenting what he says. Even though Cam admitted to hiding his injury, I'm still not letting Ron off the hook. This is the same idiot that kept trotting Cam out on the field with a shoulder injury.
