I'm pretty sure the plan wa to start Irvin and bring burns along slowerly in a pass rusher type role.. but with burns mild success and I say that in the least hes won on 29% of his pass rushes a a mark I believe that make him 4th best in the league. Does Ron say hey Bruce is a vet burns take a seat we will call you when we need you.. or does Ron say Bruce who? And make him rotate with Addison?

What say you.

It means that Irvin replaces Haynes and is able to actually set the edge in run support. I think there may be situational places where Addison is used and Irvin is put in for Burns but you don't take Burns out at this point. According to some ESPN Stat on pass rushing success, Burns is 4th in the league.

But in run down situations, having Irvin back will be invaluable. Even if run support isn't his specialty, he has the size that Haynes doesn't possess yet which should help in edge setting. For importance factor, look at the last Rams drive. If we are still running a traditional 4-3 with Charles Johnson and Peppers we stop the Rams 3 times with no problem. Without that edge setter, Gurley bounces outside not once, but twice, and gets the first down ending the game.

Irvin should provide some support there.

All this rotation and fresh legs sounds nice. But at the win rate burns is winning at I don't want him coming off the field unless I have to do it. Rotation is great when you have a bunch of average to above average guys but when you have an elite stud? Hell no.. you see how little CMC comes off the field that should apply to Burns in a smaller scale is how I view it.

Glad Bruce is back and he definitely can help but not at the expense of Burns.
