Our best offensive and defensive players can't even play at McDonald's on the playground, cause they are too short to even get on the slide, but yet they are suppose to be VIP's and take us to a superbowl title? Where at Chuck E. Cheese's playing skee ball? Draft someone bigger than Muggsy Bogues please!

What are you talking about?

Size only matters on the oline and dline, QB and WR. But as smitty has proven skill > size.

Our Oline is decent, our Dline is pretty freakin huge and we know we can't draft QB and WR.

So i have to believe you are either A, an idiot or B, talking about the bobcats.

For B i don't watch bobcat basketball...in fact i don't watch pro basketball anymore ever since the hornets moved. Guess i am a bit of a fair weather fan, as i could get behind the Bobcats if they make the playoffs the same way with the canes. But one thing i can say about the Hurricanes is when i play nhl 10 i play with the canes, when i play nba 2k10 i play with the lakers...

Are you stupid? Any team would rather have shorter lineman who can block, have push, and who are strong as hell. A bigger wide receiver has a better chance against Db's. A bigger mike has a better vision and can see what the defense is doing easier. Why do you think it took Smitty awhile to be a receiver? He would not have ever been given the chance to be a starting wideout on 75% of the teams!

Where to start with this one. This is quite probably the most idiotic thread I've seen in a while.

First, you start by pointing out how short our best offensive players are, then you advocate going after taller players. If some of our best players (i.e. Smith, Williams, and Munnerlyn) are on the shorter side, why in the world would you use that as the basis for drafting taller players?

Jarrett's pretty tall -- how's he done his first three years in the league?

And it didn't take Smith any longer to be a receiver than many others in the league. Bottom line, Smith was a threat the very first time he touched the football in the NFL.

I'm really dumbfounded right now.

this really is pretty lame, but ill try to comment to it if i can. drafting simply by siz or speed does not always work out like you think it would. it seems good in your head but you need players. every year draft boards are set and players are evaluated and ranked. in most case the 1st rounders are of the are perfect size and speed specimens for the position being drafted. they move some people up for football smarts and awareness and rank these players. to simply ignore the size of a player would be stupid , but it would also be stupid to simply say im going to draft the tallest guy available or the fastest. If you want to see how this fails look at the raiders, they year after year draft speed, and year after year have a top 10 pick. that is not where we want to be.

Drafting for size and speed always works, just ask Al Davis. How is his rookie WR working out?

Smith, Williams, Munnerlyn?

one of these things is not like the other...

They are all similar in that they are shorter players, which is sort of the basis of this thread. ;)

The only reason I mentioned Munnerlyn in the same breath as Williams and Smith is because I assumed that's who the OP was talking about on the defensive side of the ball. Was he talking about Beason? I really don't think of him as short, and if he is it surely isn't affecting his play.
