Newton may be dealing with a lisfranc injury

Anybody who knows football players knows most of them would still try to get back on the field even if they were missing a leg. Heck, Sterling Shepard admitted to waving off the sideline when he was suffering concussion symptoms just last week.

And the problem with Rivera is that this isn't new. Even a blind person could see that something was wrong with Newton last year. He should have been sat down long before they finally did.

That's a major reason why people don't trust him now.

I agree up to a point.  We do not know what conversations went on behind the scenes between coach and Cam.  I also remember most of those games we were close.  If one play went the team's way the results might have been different.

A lot of people say Ron is just trying to save his job and I think that is wrong, his job is to win games and that is what he is doing.  Ron has shown he will keep players off the field when it is best, remember after Luke's concussion?

The player has to be honest with the coaches and team doctors.

Again, not just this.

We've heard year after year of pressers where Rivera deflected all blame for losses to the players and never took any responsibility on himself.

People don't respect that in a guy who's supposed to be a leader. True leaders accept blame and redirect praise. Rivera does the exact opposite.

I really hate the narrative every loss is coaching and every win is Cam pulling the team to a win.  Not every decision Ron makes is perfect, just like every throw Cam makes is not perfect.

Ron is a players coach and i believe the team respects him.  I do not remember any ex player complaining about Ron.  I believe he is easily the best coach we have ever had, not saying much, but he is VASTLY under rated here.

I do not remember Ron ever saying we lost a game because of the interception,  missed tackle,  missed kick.  He speaks in a general coach speak.  You can not take anything he says in a press conference as gold, kind of like some coach in new england.

I am.not saying ron is Bill, but come on take it for what it is.

For whatever else you thought of him, Steve Wilks used to start every press conference after a loss or a bad defensive performance by taking all the blame on himself.

Every loss isn't coaching, but I've yet to hear Ron accept any responsibility except for the one time he said "I don't know, maybe it's on us".

I think Ron is a great guy and I really want to see him succeed. Ditto Marty, but objectively speaking I don't believe either of them are good enough at their jobs to take this team where it needs to be.

Sucks, but it's true.

Would it make you feel better if he told the truth every time?  How do you think the players would respond to a coach saying, yeah that last pass was off and the qb needs to get his crap together, or the wr cant catch  a cold or our kicker thought he was playing rugby on that kick.

The coach prepares the players and game plan, it is up to the players on the field to execute those plays.  Sometimes the players make mistakes or just are not good enough.   A coach can not make someone make a tackle or throw a good pass or catch the pass.

I think a true 'players coach' says "it's on me". Not "we missed opportunities."

No but when it comes to blame, it starts at the top. It's easy to say guys miss tackles, or blocks or they don't perform or whatever. But when you don't make a change after it happens over and over again, that's on you. The 1st 2 games of the season made me long for Byron Bell or Matt Kalil at LT. Now we saw some Little, but Moton looked serviceable at LT, a change should have been made with DW back at RT where he has proven he can excel. Last year Funchess looked like his hands were covered in ky, but he didn't find his way to the bench.

I expect a certain number of missed plays by guys. It happens, no one is perfect. But if everything is chalked up to missed opportunities and a coach doesn't stand up and say "you know what, I didn't have them prepared and this loss is on me" every now and again, I tend not to believe him after a while.

Little was in concussion protocol.   The o line needs players working together and knowing where each other will be to build the chemistry.   I do not blame him for not moving 2 positions to improve one.  Let the right side start to build that chemistry,  then work on the left when.little gets better.

The last game, coach did.not want to throw out a rookie into the fire after being out over 2 weeks.  Let him start to get his feet wet, see true game speed, get into game shape.
