Let Us Take a Moment to Appreciate CMC

IMO this last game has made me realize the team is way more succesful when CMC ISNT catching a million passes per game,

This.

CMC is a great receiver. But the Panthers are 0-10 when CMC has more than 7 receptions.  And includes games in 2017 and 2018 when Cam was healthy...

I can't explain it, but somehow it doesn't make our offense efficient.

You guys are backwards on this. One game he caught all 11 targets for over 10 yards per target. Are you actually going to say a game where he averaged over a 1st down on every target was somehow inefficient? He had two not so good games in there with less than 5 yards per target but the rest were very efficient.

The reason why you are backwards is the reason he got so many receptions is that when we fell behind he gets a lot more receptions. Defenses with a lead are willing to let pass catching backs get small gains. I mean did he have a negative impact against the Rams or did the turnovers and Cam missing wide open guys cost us the win? 11 targets for 10 catches and 81 yards isn’t inefficient at all. That’s a result of playing catch up and the only sure completion.

Your points all seem valid... especially I probably shouldn't have used the word "inefficient".  But... 0-10 is still 0-10.

At some point soon I'm going to have to dig into those 10 games and look at the gamescript related to CMCs targets. We're we always behind? Was our run game snuffed out? We're there turnovers?

It just seems so odd that in games where CMC has been hugely productive as a receiver we can't get in the Win column.

Take away that long run yesterday and he averaged only 3.3 yds. per carry on the ground.  He's more valuable catching poo passes out of the backfield.

Take away those shorter runs yesterday and he averaged a whopping 85 yds. per carry on the ground. He’s more valuable with the ball in his hands.

See how silly that argument sounds?
