The majority of yesterday sacks were coverage sacks

People usually poo on him, but Boston had a pretty solid game yesterday imo.  The hit he put on a perfectly placed deep pass that broke it up comes to mind.

 Rookie QB was the main reason, once they figured out he didnt step up into the pocket(that something was being pushed by Poe). It was open season on the wide/outside rush.

Plus I felt like the pass rush was weak for a large part of the game.  It wasn't until AZ was down by two scores when they had to throw every down, that the Panthers start piling up all those sacks.  Now, I am grateful they did that vs letting AZ back in the game; BUT they still need to do better when they can't just pin their ears back and rush the passer.  I felt like Murray had a lot of time and the pass rush was lacking for a large part of the game.

In all fairness, the pass rush had to be careful because letting Murray out of the pocket = a big run. I was annoyed at how we didn't spy Murray at all in the first half and kept letting him get 10-15 yard runs easily and played way off in coverage and gave him free 5 yard pass plays every down. We actually played tighter coverage in the 2nd half and were able to prevent the cheap dump off passes, which was a huge reason why our D looked good in the 2nd half

This my friends is the Fewell factor. I told you he was going to be the best acquisition we made in the offseason.  Actual gameplanning in the secondary. Imagine that.......

Murray is probably going to be this times Mike Vick. It's not as simple as sacking him. We played coverage and it worked.

DEs played a lot of contain and didn't push Murray out of the pocket. He wasn't stepping up in the pocket once he got stuck in a pass only situation which made for the easy sacks. Dude's 5'10 and if he can't roll out ala Russell Wilson, it makes it really hard for him to see the field. Basically got stuck in the pocket and couldn't step up because he couldn't see the field passed his first read. The early game, they were running him a decent amount, don't know why they went away from that since it was working and keeping us honest.

There was a play that really impressed me by Cockrell. Early in the game there was a screen type play and the wr was already blocking him. The receiver caught the ball so what did Cockrell do? He didn't let him get to the outside by pushing his blocker into the runner. It was a great play that really cut that plays momentum.

Idk I think Lamar is going to be a better pocket passer. Murray being 5" 10 will always have to move and scramble.
