Ron Rivera: “Cam is the Starter, but right now we are going to depend on Kyle going forward”

The “dressing funny” line was dumb on RR’s part. Taking a cheap shot at your QB1 (for now) won’t endear you to him, especially when he’s chiefly responsible for your success, Ron. Cam may have looked and felt disinterested in playing for RR before, but the chances of him busting his ass for the Panthers now seems highly unlikely. Well done, Ron, if your plan was to alienate Cam. You’ve likely accomplished that with your attempt at humor.

That would be pretty pitiful if that comment made him feel that way. Have some respect for Cam, jeez. You portray him so poorly.

he must be one of those who makes cam playing bad about race and not the fact that he has played lack luster so far this year.

There was once a time when a lot of Huddlers loved Gantt, and used to esteem his journalism. I used to tell them he was full of poo. Breaking a story doesn't mean good journalism.

When was the last time Cam had a 4 TD game?

4 TD's in his last 6 games combined.

Last year he had two (2) 3-TD games, nine (9) 2-TD games, and three (3) 0-TD games.

His last 4-TD game was week-14 of 2017 against the Packers.  He had two (2) 4-TD games that year, the other one was week-10 against the Dolphins.

Here’s Jim Miller. He played in the NFL for over a decade. He’s the host of one of the biggest shows in the country, and they do some of the best analysis in the business. Here is what he had to say about Cam tonight. I would follow his lead. Don’t make this more complicated than it is. Or, tie yourself in knots over it and knock yourself out. Either way, it’s highly likely nobody in that locker room is worked up. Including Cam.

Its been confirmed that Kyle Allen wears cargo shorts, I doubt Rivera needs worry too much about that changing.  I wouldn't mind seeing him wear one of Cam's hats with those shorts though.

If I was Allen, I would conspire with Cam to don a Newton-esque get-up postgame to fug with the media and Ron.

Lol it’s a fuging team sport now? Sure as poo didn’t sound like it when Cam was starting; unless we won.

The OL is ass still (Little is an upgrade) and the receivers are okay at best. Defense is still wildly inconsistent. We refuse to use any other running backs.

    • Yes.  And this converts directly to confidence.  Does the coach have confidence to call a deep dig or seam route?  Does Bryce have confidence in his ability to be the Alpha?  Do his teammates have confidence.  About film--when I see Cam Newton's pre-snap confidence vs. Bryce's, it is night and day.   Film--tells you if the WRs are open (why l love watching the Replay telecasts from the end zone cameras--you can see it.  I have seen 2 WRs open and Bryce's eyes are on the outlet WR or the pass rush. )  You can see progressions, and he has improved a bit--but he is very quick to rush through 1 and 2 and checkdown--that is a lack of confidence in his ability to read the defense.  I had a former NFL TE (Deems Maye) who played QB in high school (not sure about college) tell me that the best QBs read the defense by knowing where everyone will be when the ball is to arrive--not where they are.  I think his QB at the time was Humphries.  He said that Humphries would throw the ball into coverage before the cuts etc.  because he understood DB momentum, zone areas, etc.  and he could just see it.  Said so when people say nobody was open, they are usually right because nobody should be "open" when the QB has the ball--when the ball arrives, everyone should be open.  He said Humphries was never "great" but his skills were limited--from a small school--but his ability to read a defense made him never give up on a route.
