This really doesn't mean anything.  Obviously he isn't going to imply that Newton will be benched upon return.  That would be disrespectful as hell to say in a press conference, especially when he almost certainly hasn't talked to Cam yet.

But if Allen plays the next 2 games and plays great?  I seriously doubt they would bench him.

I think RR is telling the truth. #1 is the starter.  We have a backup that is dependable and can play football.  Don’t need to rush cam back.

When/if Cam can play again at even close to 90% Ron will start him. He doesn’t believe in players losing their job due to injury.

Ron will sink or swim with 90% Cam

As it should be. Let Cam heal up to 100%. Let's be honest with ourselves, Cam gives us the best chance to go deep into the playoffs IF he's 100% healthy. But Cam hasn't been fully healthy for a long time now, so Allen might get even more chances this season.
