Do the Panthers play to lose?

we thought we could win after playing a horrible game full of mistakes and problems. The fact that we didn't get the win, just brings out all the mistakes and forces us to have to talk about them. A win would have been perfect, but let's not pretend like a win would have made us think that our team was playing good football.

21 points in the first half

7 points in the second

yep, played not to lose

The team was firing on full cylinders in the 1st Half.

The D couldn't do a thing to stop the Giants in the 2nd.

yep, needed a run stuffer in the middle and a better Defensive scheme. But played to win, k thx bye.

played to win? our defense shouldn't even come into the argument. What reason does our offense have for not "wanting" (yep, i said it) to score anymore? Did they not want to go for the jugular, so they can appear more sportsmanlike? Like I said before, relying on our defense on the road is a no-no and our offense should have known this.

I didn't see the offense give up. As far as I could see from the stands the O went out on the field every time it was their turn with the ball, and ran plays that tried to get a first down. There were even plays that included us throwing the ball. Wow, that is strange I thought we just went out and knelt the ball when it was our possession.

Don't confuse playing to lose with poor execution from an offense trying to move the ball.

I am new, and not looking to ruffle any feathers but we threw only 10 or 11 times after the first quarter.

I think he's referring to the last minute or two of the first half. Standing there and letting the clock run out with just under a minute to go with only an 8-point lead could be construed as "playing not to lose". Although I think that specific example could more accurately be called "not playing because you are afraid that you might turn the ball over".

that last second fg would lead me to believe we were playing to win. Afterall, fg as time expires would mean there's no way the opponent would be able to come back and win.

There's no way you can pin this on playcalling or "playing to lose" This team was playing to win. It just so happens that fate would have at it. Ask the Detroit Lions, you don't play this game to lose, which is why they've still been playing, scoring. We scored 28 pts on a REALLY good defense. That doesn't say as much as the giants scoring 34 on a suspect defense.
