Regardless, Kyle is better than just about any other options available. Keep riding the Allen wave until Cam is healthy.

The goal should be to be 3-3 at the bye week with one of those wins coming against London. Then, hopefully you can evaluate the an situation during the bye after Kyle has played four games and cams had time to heal.

You don't bench Kyle Allen after that type of performance, especially with the easiest portion of the schedule still ahead. You play him and see if he sustains that type of extremely high level of play.

What about Cam?

Cam's foot sprain was given two weeks to heal in preseason, and it got reinjured on a simple scramble. Obviously it needs more time.

The solution is simple.

You play Kyle Allen for at least the next two weeks and let Cam fully heal his foot. If at that time Kyle Allen is still playing at a high level you keep him in. You never bench a QB with a hot hand. If he looks average to below average, you put Cam back in.

 

Above all else, the Panthers need to keep winning.

Brilliant logic, but we are talking about Ron Rivera. The same guy who platooned the LT between a promising rookie and a turnstile.

Long time reader new poster... Nut leave Allen in till he gives reason not to. He playef great today.  I was also impressed with Christian Miller and the difference in OL after Little was put in.

Cannot discount the fact that Allen knows he's the backup and has little to lose.

And that's the key here. Say Cam gets back to what he, team docs, and coaches all deem to be 100%. They put him out there. He still can't run and make the throws required of his style of play, which is what makes Cam an elite QB.....then what? Because then you've benched your hot hand and possibly cooled him off, who is to say he comes back out with that same level of focus and rhythm with the team?


This is not a simple situation and there are no guarantees and as excited as I am right now, I'm having some serious anxiety about it moving forward.

Yep, and Kaepernick for the 49ers initially, and Nick Foles taking over for Vick in that one year he had as a starter that was elite, Brady his rookie year, etc. Many instances....
