Let me clarify:  I don’t think Williams is the answer at LT. But I don’t think Williams is the answer at RT either.  Williams is either not fully healed, or he was never that good to begin with.

I think he was a solid RT before the injury, but that injury is a potential career derailer.

I can only assume that they looked at different lineman at LT during camp and preseason and didn't like what they saw. But we can find an upgrade via trade.

I wouldn't be surprised if Tepper doesn't allow this current crew to swing any trades involving future draft picks.

The Oakland Raiders currently have a big problem on their hands. With starting left guard, Richie Incognito suspended for the first two games of the season and starting right guard Gabe Jackson slated to miss the first month (at least) of the season, the interior of their offensive line is struggling.

Part of the reason for the drop-in play is due to the fact that there just aren’t many quality offensive linemen in the NFL. However, the Raiders are struggling to find even a competent left guard. Oakland signed veteran Jonathan Cooper, but that move hasn’t panned out so far. According to Pro Football Focus, he has been the worst player on the offense so far.

Veteran guard Jonathan Cooper is the team’s lowest-graded offensive player through two preseason games, a reason for concern considering he’ll likely start in place of the suspended Richie Incognito to start the regular season.

Cooper is incredibly talented and athletic, but there is a reason the former No. 6 pick in the 2013 NFL draft has bounced around the league so often. He has struggled to stay healthy and even when he is on the field, the guard hasn’t performed up to his draft status.

With two preseason games left to play, Oakland is hoping that Cooper can knock off some of the rust and return to the level that we saw in Dallas in 2017. But if he continues to struggle, expect the Raiders to search the waiver wire and trade market for a starting guard for the first few games of the season.
