Greg Cosell talks Panthers football

Cosell has been with NFL Films for 40 years, talks with WFNZ once a week about the prior game and upcoming game. 

Heres a couple highlights;

Says Cam is not throwing any different from the way he did before... all arm, no lower body torque.

Darryl Williams isn’t the only guy struggling in pass protection, said when one guy is getting beat it sometimes turns into a domino effect 

Said the Ravens played a lot of man coverage and pressured Murray with some success. Not sure Panthers have secondary talent to play man. 

Believes Ron will come up with a scheme that confuses Murray

Said Allen is a better option than an injured Cam right now. Can throw deep and is mobile.

I never bought into the whole new throwing motion $hit.  Cams shoulder is still junk, unless he rests a year it will never be good enough for him to be even average.

My take is now that Cam is on IR it takes off the pressure from the team, and we will play to our strengths rather than try to accomodate Cam’s health.  This could turn the season around.

Agree that Allen is a better option right now. Threat of the deep ball will open up the underneath game for McCaffrey. Even if Allen isn't as talented as a healthy Cam, there are talented skill players on offense that can move the ball.

Wait, what?  Who told you that Cam is on IR?

Only one player is on IR and that is Gano and there is no news on Cam being in IR anywhere.

It's hard to tell what's the truth this staff, who really knows how healthy his shoulder is.

As far as the throwing motion, it definitely looked different early on. But any progress he may have made was eventually going to be negated by the struggles of the offensive line. When the DL is in your face from the moment of the snap the QB is more likely to revert to instinctual habits.

For however you may or may not feel about the quarterback, the OL has to play better or will we continue to tumble in not just the division but the conference. Let's see what Allen can do behind center. I just hope he makes it through the game healthy, left tackle does not look good in any capacity right now.

I wonder--Is Cam throwing "all arm" because he has a hurt foot? If he was compensating for his shoulder, he would use more lower body.

Funny, but if the foot heals, do we still have a problem?

FWIW: the throwing motion never looked different to me. I mean, if it did to anyone else, that’s fine. It just didn’t jump out at me
