As things stand now, it looks like Rivera will be fired. I'm certainly not advocating that a change in leadership isn't going to be warranted.

I just personally don't see this as a cause for celebration.

The success rate for new coaches is abysmal.

However it ends, Rivera's tenure overall has been a good thing. There are a lot of teams that have not had the success the Panrhers have had over the last 9 years.

This just always reminds me of the Sopranos where Tony tells his crew (and a nod at society at large) that there are those who just want to see someone whacked, no matter who logical or what the repercussions are.

Actually we are not. We had a lot of close games in our 1-15 season too. This team has no killer instinct and that starts at the head coach. We have not one a meaningful game since like October of 2018

I'd be more concerned about acting like three winning seasons out of a nine year span was some respectable feat.

And Coach of the Year awards mean nothing. Arians won them twice in Arizona as well before he was fired.

This notion that a coach who can only manage one winning season out of three is some coaching savant is just off target.

As I stated. Could be much worse.

And if we were just some office team looking to be ranked #10 out of 30 in the Eastern regional market, that'd be okay.

But this is the NFL. You either win it all or you win nothing. And coaches who consistently fail to win it all get fired.

Nobody gets rewarded for being good, just not the best. You don't get to keep your job as an NFL head coach because the team "could do worse". You lose your job because the team could do better.

Disagree with Byron outcoaching Ron. The D did fine and plenty to win the game other than Luke’s dropped INT. I’m getting concerned about him. He’s not the same guy.

Even if Luke caught the INT, there was a penalty on the Panthers that would negated it.

We can do a hell of a lot worse than Rivera

Getting a worse head coach is certainly within the range of outcomes.

I can't remember who posted it, but someone had a post with John Madden talking about 'shelf life' for coaches. I've seen signs going all the back to the preseason that Rivera's 'shelf life' is about used up on this team. It doesn't matter how good he was. It doesn't even matter we might end up worse. When the shelf life expires, you've gotta get some new milk.

Oh happy days ahead. There should be pure elation in the Carolinas when this happens. This fool won’t be able to hold this franchise back any longer.

There were much happier days like watching Shula get fired or Hurney 1.0.

I actually really like Ron and especially after the all or nothing series really have respect for him.

But his biggest issue has aleays been Too loyal where it gets in the way.

Whether its holding onto Shula for a year or 2 too long.  Or letting certain vets play over the more talented rookies until forced to bench them.  Or bringing in a old buddy as a OC after firing the previous one.

If he'd quit letting his heart get in the way of his head

By that logic let’s just fire everyone not named Bill. I think Ron has proven he’s capable of success. We have just had a string of bad luck with the health of our QB and multiple successful men leave our organization for head coaching opportunities on the defensive front.

If you're satisfied with mediocrity, then by all means you should be happy with Rivera.

Me? I want to win.

As the commercial says, just okay is not okay.

That’s literally what has happened. Every team in the league has had at least 2 head coach firings since Bill took over in N.E

31 teams are losers each year. We are one of the youngest franchises and we have accomplished a lot despite coming short on two SB. I’m content for now.

Ron is in his ninth year. It's not like he's new to head coaching.

So what are you willing to give him? Nine more years and if we still haven't won a Super Bowl by then, maybe we think about a coaching change?

You really believe fans are gonna keep buying tickets to see a crappy team play?
