Peter King on Carolina's pass protection (or lack of)

Also Brady’s olines since Cam was drafted have ranked maringally higher.

Gowever you’re correct Wilson and especially Luck have played with as much crap protection as Cam.

But Wilson benefitted from superior coaching/scheming to help and Luck...well we saw what that result was.

Also want to point out (as I have before) every super bowl contender since Cam was drafted, both teams, had a top 10 oline. The only outlier (ironically) was the Broncos in 2015 who ranked around 20th.

So, both teams in every super bowl since 2010-2011 had a top 10 oline. Including our own ranked #2 in 2015.

That just shows you how important how a good oline unit is. Needless to say the Panthers have not done their due diligence building one.

Bowles has been Cam’s kryptonite for years

Thought about it and took a look at the history.

Newton is 3-2 against Bowles.

DC for the Eagles in 2012:

DC for the Cardinals in 2013:

DC for the Cardinals in the 2014 playoffs:

Bowles as HC for the Jets:

With the Bucs obviously.

Wasn’t aware he was DC for Eagles in 2012. The 2013 is the game that forever stands out to me. The 2104 Cards had no QB and our defense played lights out. The Jets game was ugly and the defense won that one as well as special teams. I honestly don’t recall the 2012 game but the only game we can say Cam played well  against a somewhat competent team was the playoff game.

all that money spent on the DL and LB's and they still can't stop anyone

Yep just toss the ball right over them for a touchdown. It would be more effective if those defenders transformed on the field into the physical money we're paying them because no QB in the league could throw over a pile of money that high!

There are technically 5 worse olines than the Panthers through two games. So yea more than a few but out of 32...that’s pretty bad.

And I am pretty sure the LT play is bottom 3.

Combine that with Cam declining for whatever reason.

Then you have Rivera refusing to adjust a blocking scheme to help.

I’ve always said the oline excuse was getting old. Cam is not an easy QB to block for. From when Cam was drafted to last year the oline rank average was slightly above average (14-15th) whereas his worst oline he ever had was ranked 22nd.

But this year it’s ranked 27. Sure it’s just two games so far but statistically speaking this has been the worst oline he’s played behind. And now add the other factors I stated above and this team isn’t going anywhere.

And while Can is playing horrid, sticking a new QB In isn’t going to change all these other issues.

Baring injuries, I bet this OL group will finish where it normally does- mid-pack. You seem to have a grasp on that, so you also know across the league OL play is hurting. This group also held its own against a better Rams DL. The Bucs game was one guy having his best game ever and an great blitzing scheme.

You are right the OL excuse is just that wore OUT!! During Cams era, besides one year(bell-LT & chandler-RT) Panthers have had a legit OL. For about three years they had 1st team all-pro Norwell, 1st team all-pro Kalil, 2nd team all-pro Turner side-by-side-by-side. That was insanely GOOD. They got to the superbowl with Oher(cut and thought of as done) at LT and Mike fing Remmers at RT. During this PLENTY of teams would have traded OL for OL. I watch the Seahawks put Wilson in harms way for 3 straight years behind the worst group of OL in NFL history......hell some of those where converted DTs at that !!!

Its just one of the worst weeks in Panther history, sick of the excuses. Especially these false ones, OL is average and not among the bigger issues like- Ron and his whole staff(besides ST) getting out coached and Cam being inefficient. As terrible as those two where, They STILL had a chance to win..... Thats the other, panthers can not win close games. Which is very bad since around 90% of nfl games are close.

Moton needs to return to LT immediately.

This could even free up Ian Thomas to play more often, with less of a need for max protect.

Williams isn’t cutting it, and he’s not even going against elite pass rushers yet.

Or let Greg Little take over. Either way Williams is better playing guard.

Hurneymagic amirite guyz

Scary to say

Gettleman took a Lot of heat and deservingly so

But in 4 year he gave Cam and Ron.  Norwell (All-Pro), Trai Turner, Oher (solid before concussions) , drafted Moton, drafted Williams

In 2 years Hurney has, given us Van roten, Big deal to Paradis, drafted Greg Little (who he apparently considered at 16 if Burns wasnt there)
