I know it sounds cliche but it Newton can't or won't run then I don't see how Allen isn't a theoretical upgrade. Unless he's even more inaccurate than Cam of late. Maybe he can show a better feel for moving in the pocket. Certainly Newton in his prime could do anything he wanted when scrambling but the nuanced movements to sidestep pressure haven't been his strong point.

If you have a run of back luck at the blackjack table, sometimes you need a new deal of the deck. 

Cam needs to sit, so that he can heal.  Allen or Grier won't be any worse than a beaten up Cam in this game, and maybe surprise us with some improved offensive performance at QB.  Use the interval to evaluate Allen.  Time for the young guys to step up and show us what they've got in real game conditions.
