Training makes you an athlete, not a football player.

If I were to look up five other football players who haven't been in the NFL in three years but who are still training hard and hoping for a comeback, would you support us looking at them too?

If no, why not?

Those players were out right released for legitimate concerns over their play on the field. Wasnt the exact same situation for Kap. Has is skills since then eroded??? Its worth checking out if your seriously trying to win 3-4 games is all I'm saying. I have never seen a qb in his last season go 16-4 in 11 games completing 60% and the league just say " man he sucks" he should never be allowed on a field again.

We haven't even actually named any players but you're already telling me why they were released?

You mentioned players training for a comeback? And the only players training for a comeback that wasnt warranted in my opinion is Kapernick. The reasons for his outright being out of the league are unprecedented. You can't compare his situation with anyone elses. He sued the league and won. The proof is already there.

I do have a lot of respect for your opinion and I have went back and forth with u over the years over football topics and draft picks since Newton entered the league. You didnt want him and wanted Marcel Dareus I believe. It looked like you are not a fan of the mobile quarterback type craze and believe the game should he played from the pocket. Mobile qbs are risky, make plays on the fly which by nature dont align with the conservative approach to anything.

I don't think your to chocked up about Newton potentially being finished and you sure dont want another "fly by the seat of his pants quarterback flying around your offense". I think our views are just traditional vs nontraditional. Not a right or a wrong answer just different.

Point being that if it weren't for the political aspect of it, would you really be pulling for any quarterback who's been out of the league for three years to get a comeback option?

I'm pretty sure Johnny Manziel wants a come back too, and he hasn't even been out as long as Kaepernick. But I wouldn't want Manziel either.

For the record, I was a Kaepernick detractor long before the flag stuff ever started. It has nothing to do with him being mobile. It has a lot to do with him being a poor quarterback. Mobile is fine as long as you're also a great passer.

Haven't used this particular hierarchy for a long time but it's still true.

Quarterbacks who can both run and pass are gold.

Quarterbacks who can pass but can't run are silver.

Quarterbacks who can run but can't pass are fool's gold.

As to Newton, I'm definitely not happy if his career is finished because it's not good for the Panthers. What sucks the most about it was that I feel like had he been handled and coached better, we might not be in this spot right now.

See, I can live with stuff like that. William Floyd spat at us across the field and we still wound up signing him the following year.

The only time I can support making football decisions for non-football reasons is when it involves criminal activity or bad character. Other than that, you should only make football decisions for on the field reasons.

It's easy to avoid a guy like Kaep when he is both a mediocre to bad NFL starting QB and made fun of our current QB.

But, I'd forget all that pretty quickly if he helped us win. If not.....boy oh boy, starting the roasting. I will be the first to flame him.

TWO WORDS

VENNIE TESTAVERDE ..    He's not even 56 yet..   Come back one more time Vennie.. It's Vennie Time..    It was only like  11 short years ago,, against the pesky Arizona Cardinals, Vennie lead us to victory..  it's TIME  VENNIE,,

COME BACK ONE MORE TIME TO BEAT THOSE CARDS .. !!!!

The  Panthers signed Testaverde on October 10, 2007. Testaverde, wearing #16, started his first game with the team on October 14, 2007 against the Arizona Cardinals  In that game he threw a 65-yard touchdown pass to Steve Smith..

Panthers Won 25- 10.  Vennie , on the team for  4 days,  went 20-33 ,  206 yrds, no interceptions, 1 TD ..

Ok you guys are just clowning. Manziel and stuff like this... these guys have never won anything or been starting for any meaningful time. Not like Kap is ancient. I do think you can win with just running and sub marginal passing such as Jackson. But that's my mindset. I think you can win running the option in the NFL as long as your qbs and weapons are healthy. Does that mean long term? Probably not. But for one year sure.

Kap being a bad quarterback is being blown out of proportion. 60% completion percentage right in line with Cam. 16-4 ration tells me he takes care of the football. The old guard use to love game managers and use to love having them as backups. But Kap is more a new age game manager and does it with his legs and you guys cant get behind that. Tampa won a chip with trent dilfer and the defense... all I'm saying is we can win 4 games with Kap until Cams foot is healthy.

Did you happen to check the win loss record in that last season?

Again, we're talking about a guy who hasn't played football in 3 years, and when he did was benched for Blaine freaking Gabbert.

You can keep trying to inflate how good he was, but that's not going to change the fact that he wasn't.

you crazy about this.  he was a heart breaker.   i hated him so so so so so much.  football was better when he was playing well and  i had him to hate with a frikkin passion.   he was a killer.   now that its some sort of possibility i'm not sure how i feel about it, or if he could ever get any where close to that again.  i'm guessing its how the rest of the league and fans felt about cam in '15

You nailed it.

Bottom line:  Keeperknack doesn't possess the requisite talent or skills or character needed to tip the Distraction vs. Talent Scale®  in his favor....it really is that simple.
