They’re the only two good QBs we’ve had. Who else are we supposed to compare?

Very different guys who got similar results. It’s an interesting topic. It’s not racist to discuss it.

Steve Beuerlein had one of the best single seasons of any Panthers QB, but it didn't carry over.

I'm not accusing anyone of racism.

Cam Newton is/was a much better quarterback and football player than Jake Delhomme ever was. It's not even close.

Jake Delhomme was at Carolina when they had a ridiculously talented team that only needed a QB to get over the hump. Cam has been at Carolina when they had a ridiculously untalented team (at least offensively) carried by the QB.

Cam in his prime with what Jake had in his prime would have been something to see - epic even!

The 2003 Panthers were not a “dominant” team. They were a clutch team that came through with clutch FG’s and superb QB/WR play in crunch-time.

Now, they were fairly dominant in the playoffs. They even beat down New England’s vaunted defense.

It’s why that season will never be replicated again.

The 2005 Panthers was a more dominant machine. The running game was a little more inconsistent, but Jake and Smith has an amazing year together. Defense ranked 3rd despite losing Jenkins week one (hello, Jordan Carstens). Ken Lucas played some of the best football at corner I have ever seen. He was a fearless tackler.

Nope. I got it right the first time. You just have a case of revisionist history. That's all.

I remember hating Jake until the 4th quarter most games even before Tommy Jon crept into the equation.

He was mostly great at chucking the ball into crowds for SS to bail him out. And he had a knack for making plays in the 4th quarter. Which made you forget his play the previous 3 quarters was the reason the Panthers needed a big play in the 4th anyway.

Most of Cam's career, I recall him dominating teams only to have a coach that let their opponent creep back into the game. And then would ask Cam to bail him out, even though he'd already scored over 30 points.

The fact people are comparing Jake and Cam is a deeper tell. Good old boy bullsh*t is alive and well in this fanbase.

I don't know if you were here in 2011 during Cam's rookie season where he was breaking passing records left and right, and had one of the league's worst defenses, but it actually was a regular talking point around these parts that "Cam may have the stats, but he's not a winner like The Golden Calf of Bristol" when the Broncos went to the playoffs at 8-8 and won a playoff game. Archives don't go back that far, but I would be willing to bet there are are some of the same folks on the The Golden Calf of Bristol side that just happen to be on the Jake side too.

EDIT: I can see that T I M T E B O W is still auto edited to the Golden Calf of Bristol.

I can confirm this.

The "stats are for losers, just win baby" argument. On top of that there were constant posts about him "pouting" after losses. As if being upset about losing was a bad thing. Which looking back now looks even more suspect with how some fans are questioning his commitment to football. Like really?

Then when we started winning, we started hearing about how he celebrates.

All this poo is extremely easy to see if you've been around the whole time.
