Question on R.Kalil

Ryan retired because he was tired of the grind and wanted to get on with his life. Then the Jets called in an emergency and set a huuuuge pile of money in front of him to come back and play a season for them. He smartly took it, but not before making sure there'd be no hard feelings on the Panthers.

He's a good guy and as big of a Panthers guy as you could ever imagine. May he earn a lot this year and then spend it well.

Here, ummm, really needing to see Paradis performing better and making better protection calls. It's beginning to look like we bought a lemon.

Agreed, but I'm willing to give him a few more games before calling the signing a bust.  Paradis was one of the best centers in the league until he broke his leg.  And there was nothing about that injury that should preclude him from returning to his pre-injury form.

Paradis spent all offseason recovering and didn't play in the preseason except for a few snaps.  I will be disappointed if he can't improve over the next few weeks.  He is a proven center.

That being said, Darryl Williams is not proven at LT, and the coaching staff seems hell-bent on making that work.  That is much more concerning to me.  His issue even at RT was speed rushers, and now he is facing the best speed rushers on the left side.  Tampa recognized it was an issue and exploited the hell out of it.

I don't know why we didn't make any adjustments to help him... He obviously is going to need help against good speed rushers.  I thought that was the reason we had a supposedly good blocking TE in Manhertz.  I think if we gave Williams some help via chipping he could be serviceable even though it's evident he's out of position.

I'm still at a loss of why the team won't strongly consider putting Greg Little out there since they raved about him being a true Left Tackle and slide Williams to LG.  Little will still need some help, but I think he could do just as well as a rookie LT as Williams is being obviously out of position.

Ron Rivera that's why. Good coaches don't put round players in square hole positions. Imo you move Moton to LT, Little to RT and slide Williams to RG. Problem solved.

Kalil looked pretty good to me last night

The Jets could bench C Ryan Kalil.

The Jets did bench Kalil in Monday night's fiasco of a loss to the Browns, and coach Adam Gase hinted that will remain the case for the time being. "We’re probably aways from where he wants to be," Gase said Tuesday. He then later backtracked. The Jets lured ex-Panther Kalil out of semi-retirement in August. 2019 is his age-34 campaign. Jonotthan Harrison is the next man up for Gang Green.

He was in his mid 30s, had the Andrew Luck feeling, felt way too tired of football & injuries so he gambled & decided 2018 was his last one for sure.

Then suddenly had the Brett Fart feeling during preseason & missed football big time so I'm sure he tried to come back to the Panthers. Hurney 2.0 said "you had your chance" so the only team willing to take him were the lousy Jets.

Simple as that.
