This thread should be stickied IMO because this place and our fanbase is frankly becoming more than a little insidious with this stuff. It's just plain ugly.

I agree with a lot you post, but I think you are reaching a little bit here unless I am misunderstanding you... commenting on Cam's post-game attire in regards to the perception it creates when the Panthers have lost 9 out of their last 10 games is not in any way a political or racial commentary.

The perception is that Cam cares more about his clothing choices than his performance on the field and/or whether or not the Panthers win.

I don't believe that to be the case, but I would say the vast majority of non-Panthers fans feel that way.  And perception is 90% of reality for most people, and in today's society, I would say it's closer to 99%+

I think Cam wearing something more traditional for the time being to improve the perception of himself and the company he represents would be a good thing.  Ultimately, it's Cam's choice and I respect that.

Reasonable people can agree or disagree on Cam toning down his attire given the team's current state, and I agree given the circumstances.  I respect your right (or anyone else's) to disagree.

There's honestly nothing more to read into this situation than that.

Exactly.

Look, I'm what most of you guys consider the old, white guy in the room. But most of you guys also know me as being pretty fugging progressive and this kind of sh!t doesn't effect me one way or the other. However, I am reminded of the Chris Rock gig, "I ain't sayin' it's right, but I understand."

And yes, if you win a football game by 30 points, nobody cares what the fug you do at a post-game presser. But, when you lose games, it's a completely different story. For those of you who have yet to figure that out after watching years upon years of football, I got nothin' for ya, except open your ignorant eyes.

"According to Radio + Television Business Report (RBR.com) the age of live sports viewers is skewing older. Much older. Today the average NFL viewer is at least 50." July 2019.

If you honestly believe that this is not about the average football viewer (50+ years old) taking issue with a young black man and the clothes he wears and whether or not the W-L record makes any difference, then you are blind and have your head in the sand.

And one more thing.... didn't Cam get benched for not wearing a fugging tie once, not too long ago? Some of the same people bitching about what he wears these days were likely some of the same people who said he should have sat out the entire game for not wearing a fugging tie.

Cam basically is doing the Superman TD celebration in the end zone....down by 35.

When you get embarrassed.  Maybe leave the fancy look at me outfit in the locker and wear something else.

I mean he can still wear the granny pimp outfit but it silly to then act like people ain’t going to say something

Meh, I've made fun of Cam's sartorial choices in the past, and undoubtedly will in the future . To me he always looks like a kid who got into his parents clothes closet and just picked things at random.

I'm also a white guy who is eligible for social security, I understand it's just not my style.

And, has nothing to do with his play on the field. His clothing choices don't affect his game and vice versa.

Cam's outfits look terrible, but I don't spend any time stewing over it. Like who is sitting around boiling over his outfits? o 0 (That sob with his granny outfit) I mean i that's your thought bubble you're kind of odd. It's just not a big deal. Now the shitty throws yeah that bugs me.

I would prefer my QB dress is a manner that didn't bring more negative attention- that is all.  I still appreciate Cam, but I am in agreement with Jim Celania on this.

He's not your QB. He's the QB of the team you follow. You don't have any ownership of him. Stop being weird.

Who's the one being weird my man?  You're the one reaching to start an internet argument here by trying to put meaning on something that simply isn't there... I personally think that is weird.

Cam is the current QB of the Carolina Panthers, the team I have followed since the team's inception and that I have supported financially over the past 14 years as a PSL holder.  Is that formal enough and descriptive enough for you to discern that that nothing about my words indicate that I meant to imply any personal ownership of Cam Newton?

Comments like yours are ridiculous and are the reason good discourse on this board inevitably devolves into inane dribble.

When you post dribble to begin with, you really can't pretend to be shocked when things go down this road. I know, why don't you tell us all what your dream outfit for Cam to wear for you on game day. Something that says, "Thanks for spending more money and time on our team than any of the other tens of thousands of Panthers fans. I'm on the straight and narrow until we're 10-6. I'm so sorry for letting you, my number one fan, down so badly with that Hermes kerchief."

LOL.

if he rocked it and owned it like rodman seemed to it would be better.  he just doesn't have the personality to pull it off - to me.  he's not flamboyant or fabulous.   he needs to be to wear that poo. it would look better and work better.    those clothes are just not his personality.   that's really what feels wrong i think.

I agree with this.  I love Cam, but when you have lost 8 straight starts, for good, bad, or indifferent, it's a bad look to bring negative attention to yourself via your press conference attire.

I don't care one bit about Cam's personal fashion, but he is the face of the franchise, a franchise that is in a free fall at the moment.

Going back to wearing a suit (even with Cam adding some of his unique flair) would be a great start.

I hate to even talk about this but it is an issue at this point b/c it is just another thing for critics to point at.  Being out there fashion-wise is eccentric when you're winning, but it's embarrassing when you're mired in this kind of losing streak b/c it creates the impression you are more concerned about your attire than the game.

I still 100% believe Cam is focused and is doing everything he can to win.  Just wear something semi-normal until we get this ship back on track.

Stop caring what other people think.

This is the same dude who is working out and rehabbing on his vacation in the off-season. The only people commenting on his attire somehow meaning he cares less are either liars, trying to smear character or just ignorant of him as a person. We know Cam gives 100% to this team and game. All that other stuff is just outside noise for people desperate for attention and to be a name. If people didn’t give that kind of poo attention, there wouldn’t be a platform for it.
