Yeah okay.

Ron Rivera cannot remember if he has interviewed for nine or 11 NFL head coaching jobs. The newspaper clippings say it was nine interviews, and that might be right, but Rivera wonders if the reporters missed a couple. It sure felt like 11. Well, wait, he can tell you exactly how many interviews because he has kept all the notes. Rivera keeps everything — notes, lists, scribbled goals, mission statements. He likes to look through his life now and again so he can remember exactly how things happened. Rivera does not like imprecision.

So I am thinking that you, and please correct me if I am wrong, are referring to his failure to land a job after being a coordinator way back in what, 2011? And used a pre Super Bowl article from the 2015 season to bolster support for your opinion? Okay. we're done, this is not worth it.

Concession accepted.

To be honest, Ron is much more likely to get another HC job sooner than Cam getting another starting QB job in the league if both are not part of the organization next year.

Lol, you were championing Ron Rivera around here last year like he were Belichek or some poo. fug all the way off with this.

Literally no other team wanted to hire Rivera, JR knew Rivera was about as status quo and safe a HC could get.

Completely kidding yourself if you think Rivera doesn’t get another gig quickly... besides in Charlotte a lot of people think he is a good coach ( I am not friends with any GMs just comments on what people are saying). More likely Cam has a harder time getting another starting gig than Rivera.... YMMV

I still think he gets undue criticism.  There's only so much you can do when your starting QB is sucking it up as bad as he has the last 10 games.  This board thinks Ron is 0-58-1 and Cam is 71-0-0 so I was never going to make hay with that argument here.  But some team is going to take that into account and see that in seasons with a healthy QB he had a decent track-record  of making the playoffs and roll the dice.  Meanwhile if Cam continues to play as bad as he has and is released, it's very unlikely he'd land anywhere besides a backup role.

Oh I’m not saying he wouldn’t, teams retread overrated Coaches all the time. Hell, look at Bruce Arians and the Bucs. They’re a worse ran mess than us. Kinda.

Cam made Rivera lol, next team he lands on without a generational talent carrying his ineptitude will fail.

These fans are revealing how little Panthers football they actually watch.

Ron is one of the most conservative coaches in the league with a penchant for bizarre clock mismanagement. Cam Newton is why he still has a job. I'm putting that as kindly as I can. If you look across the NFL right now the coaching landscape is changing rather quickly. Teams aren't looking for coaches living in previous eras. Rivera is fading the same way Fox did. The Broncos gave him the keys and you saw how that went. Someone might hire Ron as a head coach again, but he won't have another prime Cam Newton to save his ass.

Fair enough... BB was a retread too.... if he lost 2 games here would people say Brady is the only reason he won... maybe... maybe not. If crab legs has a good year, every bucks fan is going to say Arians is the GOAT.... with a QB people win, without they don’t.... My opinion... both teams have good pieces but are not complete.

    • He's turned into quite a gunslinger
    • Hey guys, remember when we won those meaningless games in 2010 and it cost us the #1 pick and the chance to draft Cam? Oh.... right I get that's more of an extreme example because it got us a HOF caliber QB.  But it's the general concept, you want to win late season games when you have the pieces in place to make a run the next season, we currently are not in that place. Herbert and Sewell are the ones I point to so much, because we literally lost out on 2 franchise different makers by 1 draft slot.  Give us those two players while we still have CMC, Moore, and the rest of the picks we gave up for Bryce, and we'd have been a legit playoff contender the last few years. Draft position matters in the NFL more than any other sport (other than the #1 pick in the NBA in a year with a generational talent).
    • It’s so crazy. If we had a shot for pick 1 and there was some generational player there then yeah maybe I could get behind the draft position argument. I’d say most GMs and coaches aren’t diving into the draft right now. They are trying to win games.
