Everyone’s talking about big and bad about Cam needing to get his act together if he wants a contract...but this franchise let THREE QBs get broken last year...does Cam want another contract here? Would you?

If he doesn't look significantly better by the end of this season, I wouldn't bet on anybody else offering him a big contract either.

Maybe someone needs to point out that this isn't week 6 of preseason.

It’s obviously not preseason butte has basically missed preseason. It’s the timing that I believe is off. Arm strength seems to be there but timing is the issue. We will see how he looks next week. Hopefully we win

If the Panthers let go of Cam get ready for 2-5 years (could be a lot longer, just look at the Browns) of trying to find a quarterback. If they're lucky they'll find trash until they find a star. Worst case scenario is a Tannehill or Bortles that keeps the team winning just enough games.

Hate to say it but Tannehill or Bortles may very well be best case scenario for the first couple of seasons unless we can swing a trade or a veteran becomes available in free agency. But even with that we'd be in a bidding war with some other QB needy team. There's always plenty of those in the NFL each season. But none of the cheapskates who complain about average NFL salaries are going to want to hear about any of that. Average QB's are getting hundred million dollar contracts.

I'd much rather have a quarterback at the level of Allen, Grier, or Derek Anderson where they're so fuging bad we're guaranteed a shot at first overall year after year. Bortles and Tannehill are the types that win you 6-8 games a year.

At this rate, we'll be drafting our QB in the first round next year

Then we'll be picking a Tannehill tier candidate. We're not going to get a top 3 pick with teams like the Dolphins tanking as hard as they are. It's going to take either a historically bad season, with a great quarterback prospect, or years of collecting draft capital to get a legitimate rookie quarterback. Ron wants to save his job, so does Hurney, they're going to win every game possible, meaning we're not going to be able to have a historically bad season to beat out the other teams at a the race to the bottom.

Best option is if Cam is done this season we'll be trading pieces to contender teams this off-season, and collecting draft capital while tanking next year — much like the Dolphins, but less extreme. Pieces that you can find every year in the draft. The problem with this however is how do you find a coach that wants to go into a season obviously tanking? Keep Ron?

How?

We are top 3 worst in the NFL

Actually, think of it this way. There's no way the Panthers beat the Dolphins at losing, so who's the second best quarterback? Is this quarterback really an elite prospect?

Though that really won't even come into play. The Panthers are 0-2, but they're 0-2 losing games where they were 1 score behind, with Cam looking broken, the offensive line looking broken, and the defense looking okay to shaky depending on the quarter. This along with a lot of questionable calls, and a ton of balls that didn't bounce the Panthers way (literally, looking at the Rams game), means this team won't be in the top 5 picks.

Cam Newton has been in the league for close to a decade. This is it folks. He's hit that ceiling. If you're too much of a blind Homer to see it. Then good for you. Cam's mechanics are not getting better, his game sense and decision making will not get any better. What you is what you get with Newton. He replied on his athleticism early on. Now that he has to stay in the pocket it's not working.

I've said this before and I'll say it again. Cam is a rythmic passer. He needs to run in order to set up his passing game. You take away his legs this is the result. You're killing Cam by not letting him do his thing. You can tell on the look on his face. This brass is his kryptonite. Move on from one or the other.

Lol yeah ok

Didn't even watch the last two games, did you?

Look dude, believe it or not, Newton isn't really Superman. There was always going to come a day when he wasn't going to be able to do it anymore, and if he doesn't improve this year that time may be now.

We're all hoping that he gets back to form, but unless you're in absolute denial, you have to accept the possibility that he might not.

As far as him signing somewhere else, teams pay you for being good now and in the future, not for how good you used to be.
