This is NOT a comparison thread between DG and MH, this is a comparison thread between Hurney 1.0 and Hurney 2.0.

Because I believe many who were an avid Gettleman fan and still secretly are, are the ones driving the Hurney hate train.

  Maybe if someone would actually bring a fact to the table, to show this “improved” version, like was asked from the beginning of the thread. It’s much easier to throw this out there when you can’t give a logical reason against any of the facts brought up to show he hasn’t done anything better.

A GM’s primary job is to supply his head coach with as much talent and depth as possible. If is head coach is not utilizing the talent given properly, the GM should be allowed to replace the head coach. 

The real question is has Hurney given Rivera enough talent to succeed and do better than the result’s we are seeing? 

Conversely is Rivera being held back by lack of a talented roster with depth?

If the answer applies blame to both then we need to clean house of both of them. 

At this point I think a struggling Cam and Rivera’s terrible game management are our 2 biggest problems.  This begs the question, if we had a capable backup to outperform what we’re seeing from Cam, would Rivera make the switch at QB? If the answer is no, then there was simply no point in investing extra capital (draft picks, salary cap space, or whatever means necessary) in acquiring another QB. 

We suck right now and everyone wants heads to roll. Problem is, is there another coach under Rivera on our staff who could do better than he currently is? 

I don’t think the answer is yes. So by default I think he will he given a few more games to turn the ship around. However if and once we are eliminated from the playoff’s Rivera should be fired immediately.

 

Then that leads to this question? Does Hurney have the power to fire Rivera or does that solely belong to Tepper?

 A GMs job is to fill an entire roster. We have GVR as our LG for the second year. DW has never been a LT. You’re answer at LT is a raw project who needs a year, but cost two quality picks. Then another on a QB who you don’t want to have to play. The DL is expensive, old and lacks depth. Those are huge holes that have been exploited already. All issues brought up before the season. 

 Rivera is 51-29-1 with 4 playoff appearances and a SB appearance without Hurney. 

Rivera is 20-32 with Hurney. 

  Whose the real issue here?

You’re the one complaining about it, so you should have some kind of explanation on how that moves is effecting the product on the field.

 Are you trying to argue wasted money has no effect on a roster? You are the one claiming “nitpicking”. State your case or STFU.

I'm glad we have Poe. He fits this defense, and I look forward to him improving this season. The fact is, the $25 mil was a bargain at the time, and still may likely turn out a bargain. We were never locked into Smith (and he is gone). Slye may turn out to be better in the long run than Butler (so far, so good).He certainly has a cannon leg, which means something on kickoffs. I'm not going to second guess such marginal moves in the grand scheme of things. It's a relatively small cost of doing business. Every move is subject to hindsight being 20/20. I don't see any of those moves as being why we've lost so many games in a row.  And, like any GM every year, some moves don't pan out, and you strive to fix them (even if only  temporarily) the following season. I haven't seen anything egregious from that perspective. But, at the end of the day, if you're losing the buck stops with the GM.
