His shoulder is fine.  Excuses excuses.  He had plenty of zip on the ball and got the ball down field just fine.  His accuracy is garbage.  The only reason people have overlooked it in the past is because he ran the ball so well.  Now he looks AND runs like Madea, so he can't hide his fatal flaw anymore.

Everyone blames Norv but he has had to scheme around Cam's issues for the past 9 games. Honestly I don't know about the Rams but both Allen and Grier could have won that game last night. The gameplan wasn't the problem. Execution by the quarterback surely was.

The issue is complicated right now. Cam is obviously rusty coming off of shoulder surgery and missing virtually the entire preseason. The good news physically is that his zip on the ball looked really good last night. The bad news physically is that his foot is jacked up and he can't run and that very well could be impacting his passing ability too. That's a really bad thing for Cam. Running the ball is usually what settles Cam down and gets him into the game. Now we have a dual threat QB who is forced to be one dimensional. Okay, no huge deal, right? Oh wait... the OL is straight trash, particularly the left side. Daryl Williams looks even worse than Byron Bell at LT. Paradis is getting flat out man handled and ran over out there. Van Roten is a JAG who is serviceable when playing between two good players but he's sandwiches between trash right now. Passing from the pocket is practically impossible right now.

It's all a recipe for disaster. Cam has to play better and we have to help him do that, but I honestly have no idea how we do it. His foot probably isn't going to get better while he's still playing. I honestly think we should consider sitting him until that foot can allow him to run again, but Rivera has already thoroughly shown that he'll ride Cam's ass into the ground to try to save his job.

I guess I’m in the boat of my own, giving up on cam is some preconceived notion that I’m not down with. If an atrocious game from my qb is 50% completion with 333 yards no int and a fumble I’ll take that over what Winston and baker did week one. This is not to say that was even remotely a good game by cam but our oc needs to do a better job, horrible game plan vs the bucs. 2 games is too small a sample size and i doubt the panic is this high if we just qb sneak the damn ball on the last play

It atrocious when hes below 50% completion, and even being average would have gotten him 400 yards passing and 2 TDs.

You shouldn’t be attempting 51 passes when the most you were down by was 6, you’re asking the d coordinator to heat you up

This is also true.  Although, CMC got stuffed on just about all his runs so I can see the idea of not running because it wasnt working at all.....but then again neither was passing, really....It seemed that we would pick up the first, first down with ease, and then all of a sudden it was 2nd and 18.  I cant even remember how many times that happened last night.  At least 5.

Yep frustrating, and although cmc wasn’t rushing well you can’t abandon the run, by doing that play action ect all went out the window, cam is at fault no doubt but this is what you ask for attempting that many pass attempts, de were able to pin there ears back, we made it way to easy for them

Absolutely.  WR's and TE's were running around wide open all night.  Even Cam's completions were poo throws.  Receivers were having to turn around and come back to the ball all night.

Actual football question...

I don’t really watch other NFL games than the Panthers.  So, for those of you who do...

Does Cam hold the ball longer than most QB’s?  I know our OL isn’t great, but would guys like Brees, Brady, or hell, even Dalton, Goff, Stafford get killed if they were our QB?

I’m wondering if it is even at LEAST in part because Cam takes longer to go through his reads, and his set up to throw, etc.

From the 2nd quarter on, the Bucs stacked the box to stop CMC and blitzed Cam like crazy and dared him to beat them throwing the ball.  Cam couldn't do this and he was exposed just like he was last year when everyone figured out he couldn't throw deep.  Expect every team to do the same thing until Cam can prove he can throw the ball accurately.

OL didn't play bad last night, but Williams didn't have a great game.  This wasn't the reason we lost.  In the second half the Bucs weren't even disguising what they were doing and most NFL QBs would have had a field day with WR that were regularly in single coverage.
