David Tepper has learned a valuable lesson over the past several months. Some of the most basic principles in his stock market empire can be applied just as effectively to football.

Buy low, sell high.

Last year the stock of Hurney and Rivera was plummeting. A seven game losing streak followed by a meaningless preseason-like victory. The Carolina Panthers franchise was plummeting, the playoff window was clearly closed, yet Tepper decided to hang on to that stock for another season. Clearly it was time to sell, but he held tight. Bad move.

What we are seeing now are the fruits of that ill fated decision. A team that should have a fresh and new approach to the game under exciting new leadership is stuck for an entire season with the same tired excuses we have seen for years.

Talk about a missed opportunity.

It is too late for a new and exciting GM and head coach to be brought in, but coaching changes should still be made. It would be a shame for the Carolina Panthers to spend so much Christian McCaffrey mileage on a meaningless season. An interim coach might be less willing to have an offense hinged completely on a bright young star that the next coaching regime will very much need. Perhaps an interim coach would give opportunities to other young players on the team, like Jordan Scarlett, to prepare them for the seasons to come.

An interim coaching staff may also be a quick injection of interest into the fan base. At the very least Carolina Panthers fans would see accountability and hope for change next season. Perhaps this would be enough for them to go to a game and even buy a beer or two.

Let's find out.

What can you say that couldn’t be predicted here when it all unfolded years ago.

1. Ron Rivera interviewed with 9 other teams for the HC position and was rejected before he got his chance with the Panthers. From the 1^st day he came on board he stuttered and had that deer in the headlights look. He can’t get out of his own way mentally on the field. This is a low football IQ head coach and he continues to demonstrate that both on and off the field. How’d he win coach of the year?........rode the back of his team and the NFL’s desire to have a Latino win that distinction.  

    

2. The GM and front office of this organization is enamored with high profile skill set positions in drafting players........Nothing, I repeat nothing replaces a 1^st class offense line within NFL football........you draft first and foremost to move the chains on offense with a strong O-line and a QB pocket passing high football IQ person and the rest of the positions fall in place below those priorities.

    

3. CMC pound for pound is a great player......for college. Not the NFL, sure you can use him as a weapon platooning him here and there but not as a featured back. Size matters when running the ball in the NFL....as long as its the running backs and not the QB that is........

    

4. Big fast athlete QBs who do not have to rely on their pocket passing, defense reading high football IQ strategies will either fail to make the grade over time and/or injury themselves right out of the league........since day one I’ve called Cam a Donovan McNabb 2.0........and on top of that he is a man child over emotional showboating dubious fashion plate failure that thought superman was a real person.

 

So I made two predictions about this year for the Panthers a few weeks back...........that Cam would not finish the season and it wouldn’t be due to an on field injury but that he would be benched for his play or lack of it...

......and this team would go 7-9................

...and you clowns wanted to kick me off this board........but how far fetched does that sound now?

Well, I rest my case.....

......and the best thing that could happen to this franchise is to move them to Mexico City or London and get the NFL’s dream of the first international team they want so desperately.....

This team isn't going anywhere with RR or an interim staff.  Wish we could fast forward to January.....

This is a Cam Newton problem.  You cannot win with a QB who cannot consistently complete easy passes.

Sure, you can argue that the O Line was bad, and it was.  But the fact remains that Cam had numerous opportunities to complete passes to open players and just plain threw a bad pass.

Norv isn't the problem.  Norv called plays that got players open, and our QB failed to execute the offense.

Cam Newton isn't being held nearly accountable enough.  Say what you want about Ron/Hurney/Norv, but both games so far would have been won with ease by even the most mildly talented passers in the NFL.  Cam is one of the five worst QBs in the NFL right now.

 Wouldn't that be selling low though?

Surely this is the point. I don't trust RR to take us to the playoffs but I don't trust him to lose games either. We probably end with 6 wins and miss out on elite picks next year and instead just have a pointless season. Worst case scenario. A new HC and GM would be logical but if Tepper didn't do it at the end of the season is he going to do it two games in?

If Cam could have completed even the easy, wide open passes last night he would have had over 400 yards passing.  He was atrocious.
