A guy who fires people that were left over from the prior regime isn't going to look reactionary.

(I honestly don't think people would have batted an eyelash if he'd have fired them last year)

You're absolutely right. At the end of last year it would have made total sense. I think he messed up his window.

The Lions and Browns haven't had a coach for anywhere near as long as we've given Rivera for 20+ years, the Browns especially. Rivera has had more than enough time. Any coach worth a damn would completely understand why we fired this loser.

Totally agree. He should have done it after last year. Waiting until two games in isnt a good look though.

Ron has ruined Cam’s career. Cam had a fantastic rookie year under Chud. Flinging the ball everywhere on the field until Shula and Norv got here.

Hired a young offensive genius to help Cam. If Cam still cant get it right then it’s time to cut bait. Just look at what a new HC can do with a qb: McVay and Goff, Nagy and Trubisky, zac taylor and dalton so far.

This should have been happened. Let’s hope it’s not too late.

Cam

Pretty much this, and since he ran Cam into the ground, making him a shell of his former self (these last 2 games it just doesn't look like the same Cam mentally or physically), his plan was to do the same thing to CMC.

Imo, this is worse than Dan Henning's "feed the stud" obsession.

yeah Cam's scrambling ability made Ron think "well poo i'm really good at spotting o-line talent apparently, i can just sign random guys and stick them in whatever position and it seems like Cam does great anyway!"

then Cam started getting foot and ankle injuries and reality set in

Perfect storm this season will be if the Steelers are terrible enough to fire Kevin Colbert.

If I'm Tepper, I grab Colbert, hand him the keys to everything and say "fix it".

Colbert is apparently on the verge of retirement. He may just call it a career after this season and save the Steelers from needing to fire him.

Colbert's contract expires after the 2020 draft. Haven't seen anyone discuss this recently but it's definitely worth monitoring.

Just read the tea leaves from this...(link to article below)

Team president and owner Art Rooney II told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette on Friday that it was Colbert’s decision to wait until after the season to decide on his future with the team. Colbert’s contract with the Steelers expires after the 2020 draft.

At this stage of the game, he’s really not looking to do any long-term planning,” Rooney said. “We talked and we agreed he’d rather wait till after the season to talk about the contract.”
