No more Tinkering with Jake's Mechanics...

He's reporting the facts, and in some cases what people have said.

I read very little personal opinion in that article. Though I'll concede that I don't always agree with Gantt, he is far and away the best Panthers reporter we've got.

Prior to this season, the man was basically worshipped around here, especially when compared with the Observer's reporters. Amazing how a losing season will change people's opinions.

Being a good reporter is tremendously based on how true the information you are reporting is. This info has as many holes in it as does a pillow case that was just fired upon with 00buckshot....period.

To keep feeding people bullshit excuses to keep your job, and have access, etc......is exactly what they keep feeding us. Bullshit.

I blame nobody but our organization for putting this poo out there to be printed. They never wanna talk about anything else....any other time...but let's go public with this????????????????????

Get the fvck outta here.............

It's fine to feel that way about the organization. My point is only that Darin Gantt is just reporting what he hears.

I guess he could always not report it since he can't name some of the sources, but then he'd have to listen to the Huddle's incessant bitching because there's no news about the Panthers.

too little, too late.

i thought that working on improving his mechanics might be a good thing but apparently it wasn't. old dog can't learn new tricks.

once you've been doing things a certain way for so long it's hard to relearn how to do it. if you have learned to do things a certain way it becomes 2nd nature to you. if you are suddenly told to change things that natural to you then your performance will many times take a hit because you spend so much time trying to change the way you do things. after you have been doing something for 20 years, it's hard to change and it is very possible for your overall performance to suffer because you focus more on the minutia of details rather than the big picture.

so, i guess it makes sense to back off on it. hopefully it will work. damage may have already been done but worth a shot if you are blindly bound to the idea that jake is the man.

while we're at it, can we take davidson out of it as well?

they were talking about stopping the micro-managing and that may be what needs to happen as far as playcalling is concerned. jake does his best in the hurry up and 2 minute drills so why not keep them going the whole game?

still....i think it's too far gone. it's spun out of control and they are just trying to fond some way to hold on.

it's a shame that they have given up on being better or at least trying to.

You are missing the entire point. Why print something that you KNOW is bullshit to start with??????????????????????????????????????????????

It only makes you, the reporter...look even more stupid. There is no way in hell you can tell me as tight lipped as this organization is, he now finds this to be some credible "ground breaking" new news! It does not take a genius to figure out poo smells like poo.

So who tinkered with his mechanics against Arizona?
good question. i still believe that a lot of that had to do with him being told to take the week off and rest his arm.

same thing happened when he came back from the bye earlier.

plus it was one of those situations where he had spun out of control early...the whole game had.

btw...i am in no way a jake apologist. i totally believe that we should move on and fox sticking with jake is a cowardly move and that the fact we have no one that the fox feels comfortable with shows that they have some serious problems in making personnel decisions.

still, i do like to look at problems and see where they were. emotionally jake just isn't the same guy he used to be. he's not fiery or angry anymore...he's frustrated. the energy he used to use to bring that team from behind and lead them now gets spent on trying to just not screw up and getting pissed at himself for doing so poorly.

it's time to move on. what got him to this point doesn't matter anymore. what matters is that he is how he is and it is very unlikely that it is going to change.

Just like any other position in the NFL, you literally cannot think and play quarterback once the ball is snapped. Any time you try to manipulate how someone plays the game it makes them think before they act. At this stage in his career mechanics are set in stone.

However, this doesn't give Jake a free pass, he still needs time on the bench.

So who tinkered with his mechanics against Arizona?

The way I see it, that was just Jake flat out being bad.

They then bring in Rip who has a reputation for being high on mechanics and being the complete opposite of McCoy. Now Jake was doubting himself whilst throwing after the Arizona game, so he has that in his head whilst he is playing. THEN he gets a load of changes that he has to mentally tick off duringt he game as well. He is thinking FAR too much out there.

Doubting his own decisions AND having to think about his mechanics is a terrible combination.

Oh and...

Why is everyone bringing so much hate?! It is fact that Rip was working on mechanics, just think logically about it rather than emotionally.

With all due respect, I think you're the one missing the point.

It is a reporter's job to report what he hears and sees, whether he believes that is bullsh*t or not. A reporter must be unbiased and report the facts: in this case, it is a fact that Scherer, Delhomme, Fox, etc. made these comments.

Gantt might very well think what the front office is saying is bullpoo, but in a piece like this it is his job to report what has been said. And he did that.

Anything less would be not doing his job.

Whoever fed Gantt this information was deliberately throwing Scherer under the bus as the scapegoat for this season's woes. I hope you guys don't fall for it. This was a deliberate attempt to try to change the conversation in the fan base. "Oh, so instead of blaming John Fox and Jake Delhomme, we need to blame Rip Scherer? Okay, gotcha!" <--- THAT is what they're hoping you'll be talking about for the rest of this week.

DO. NOT. FALL. FOR. IT.
