That's basically the point of the post?

And I'm just gonna have to go ahead and burst this Cam is washed and CMC is the savior bubble by pointing out the obvious. RB's are becoming less and less a position where you have to invest the farm for them. You can find examples of that across the league. Ask L. Bell after watching James Connor play. Ask holdout Melvin Gordon whose Chargers team won convincingly yesterday without him and kept chugging right along to a win. Even the Rams easily ran in a score on us with their backup running back. You do not have to run one RB into the ground in the NFL anymore to win consistently.

Can't compare CMC to any of those guys.  He is just as much a WR as he is a RB.  And, that's not easily replaced.  In fact, a WR as good as him is almost impossible to replace.  He's a generational type talent.

CMC's distinct abilities as a pass catcher would be a wet dream for someone like Sean McVay. You think Sean would run Christian into the ground like the Panthers, or do you think he would exploit that and use it as an opportunity to open things up for other players which equals touchdowns? Pretty individual yardage totals in the stat box means nothing if you're not in the win column.

Norv Turner was the offensive coordinator for Emmitt Smith from 1991-1993.  Did he run him into the ground too?  We need to stop treating CMC like some piece of glass.  He has the genes.

Emmett Smith had backups that were used to spell him (we signed one of them early on) and had Moose Johnston taking some carries as well.

Smith had 414 touches his 2nd year, and 432 his 3rd year.

CMC had 326 touches last year and based off the game yesterday is on pace for 464 touches this year.

Rivera has said they're going to try to give McCaffrey some relief this season.

Rivera also said they were going to take a "real look" at Cameron Artis-Payne.

Think about how long guys like Artis-Payne rotted away on Ron Ron Rivera's depth chart, and then take a gander at the Rams punching in a rushing touchdown with the backup RB with ease. The guy wasn't even touched. He had two career touchdowns before the game Sunday.
