Is Cam Newton Washed?

you're 100% right.  I dont think norv is the problem.  Honestly... I'm starting to go dark side on rivera.  If we're choking it means the coach is the choker.  You know?

So... Rivera *sigh*. The ONLY way he has value IMO is if he's calling plays because we don't have a REAL Defensive Coordinator right now.

Eric Washington just isn't good.  In a PERFECT world we could hire a young imaginative head coach and have Rivera as DC.  Our Defense actually looks promising to be honest, and I THINK they'll have a decent season once they start to settle in.

I will say this.  He doesn’t look like the old Cam. I will hold judgement right now.  But he certainly needs to get better over the coming weeks.

I do think he has lost some his strength, at least from today. And he never had good touch. And today had no touch and accuracy issues.

Im not throwing in the towel. It can take him some time to get that trust back after not being able to trust his arm last year.  But anytime you are throwing something in sports, sometimes it just doesn’t come back.

He may have the swag off the field.  But I haven’t seen the swag on the field in a long time.

Hope he gets it back soon.

I don't think you can be an MVP of the NFL as a QB without "ever having touch".

Can you guys wait about half-way of the season to judge Cam? Damn your expectations are ridiculous high. He just changed his motion coming off surgery and little to no live game time. Why did you think in the 1st game he was going to go against the defending NFC champions and light it up?

hahaha right

No dude he's 30 lol.  I've waited like 8 years.  Once again... let me make this clear because I'm just starting to post here.  EVERY OTHER YEAR... I'm the guy on the other side of the Cam Newton Argument.  I'm the guy who mitigates his deficiencies.  I'm the guy who says we need a better OC, head coach.  "But he's injured".

Today Cam was healthy.  He's got a decent (Albeit not perfect they are still jelling) Offensive line in front of him.  A solid Play caller. A defense that gets the ball back for him (int) and he did very little with any of that.  Also, why wasn't any of this rust on C MAC???  I know QB is harder but cmon man.

I mean what choice do we have at this point.  I’m willing to give cam a pass today.  If you’re not that’s cool too

The fact that Gardner Minshew with the Jags in his first NFL start ever today outplayed both starting QB's in Charlotte should tell you why it's important not to judge too much from only one game. And not just only one game, the first game of the season.

this.  even without being in hurry up, he is highly effective in the no huddle; but the coaching strategy is playing not to lose, so you only go no huddle after it's too late to come back.

I don't disagree that coaching is as much a part of the problem as Cam's play, maybe more.  I am just waiting to see Cam get accurate outside of 15 yards or so.  That was the big problem last year and today did not alleviate that concern.   Hopefully it was/is just rust, would love for him to start crushing it again.

yeah, it seemed like he was thinking about his throwing motion during the game today.  he attempted a couple "touch passes" that failed.  in the past he would have zipped them in there.
