i watched luke guess wrong quite a few times today.  he wasn't good.  he was getting tangled by  groups he ran into away from the ball carrier.   he has games like this and games where he guesses right a lot.  i wish he would be more disciplined

I chalk some of that to week 1 vs one of the better offensive coaches.  They weren’t going to trot out recycled plays from last year.

What makes Luke so special is he basically learns the opponents playbook and then poops all over their game plan.   Once teams put some film on their this year he will make less mistakes IMO

I am starting to hop off the Cam bandwagon.  Just not careful/accurate enough in the 4th quarter with the game on the line.  Don't see him carrying without the threat of running the ball consistently and it doesn't appear that will be part of the game plan this year which is understandable considering his injury/surgery.

Are the coaches being too conservative with Cam's arm/shoulder? If so the team is headed for an 8-8 season at best. I'd rather put Grier in there to learn on the job than go with the Cam we saw today who can't run or throw down field.

I think Moore is gonna have a big year and I’m not discouraged by today’s game.   I am discouraged about if Cam can still throw deep.  I do wonder if Ron is going to hold us back with Olsen when we should be developing Thomas.  I mean Greg is smart and has hands...but he just looked old to me.

Greg is the worst looking player after the catch - just looks awkward to me for some reason.

boggles my damn mind how time management is still a huge problem

I'm not sure it should surprise you because the reality is nothing actually changed.

Rivera gave Sam Mills III a title that makes it sound like he's doing something new, but he also acknowledged that Mills was already doing that job in previous seasons.

So basically, it was just cosmetic. We thought something was changing, but in reality nothing really did.

Honestly, Cam played like he's channeling Catherine Hepburn in On Golden Pond: shaky, old, slow and timid.

I remember when Cam worked as hard to win games as CMC is now. Sure hope that guy comes back.

That’s too funny. I swear one of my friends at dinner said exactly that..he stole. The scarf look from Hepburn

I have no idea. I really don't.

On the one hand, it seems like we should be prepping for the 2020 draft. On the other hand, it is just one fuging game against a "paper" stellar opponent.

I just simply do not know what to think.

After only one game, you shouldn't.

If you've watched this team throughout the Newton era and what has resulted from all those hits, then running CMC into the ground in similar fashion like Cam shouldn't sound like a great idea. We have other offensive players.

    • I looked at the 1st through 3rd round WR's. There were 16 taken overall, three have missed all games due to injury. Of the remaining 13, XL is ranked 10th in PFF ratings of the group(90th in the NFL overall). He is the second lowest rated(non-injured) 1st round WR behind Rome Odunze(95th rated in the NFL overall). Five receivers taken in the 2nd or 3rd round are higher rated PFF players. So he is basically playing like a 3rd round pick.
    • Time to give (back) Cam the keys to the franchise and allow him to play out his 30's in a Panthers uniform I'm not a rocket scientist but I know Cam is better than anyone in the QB room and I know the first round pick can't be a QB in '25 after the Young debacle By the way - it would be hard to accurately judge any QB on the dumpster fire that was the '21 Panthers, especially that garbage offensive line so to point at '21 to say '..see! Cam is done..' is pretty silly Bringing the King back to the Queen is the only way this gets better
    • Hence why so many of us did not want to see Morgan installed as GM. He was Fitterer's assistant GM. Is anyone really buying that for some reason he disagreed with every lightspeed stupid move Fitterer made? Or is it just much more likely that they largely agreed on the bulk of these decisions?  So, until we get real change in that FO, the expectations are going to remain extremely low.
