Very unlike the Steelers to give him that contract, but they did, and it bit them hard.  The owners are setting a precedent of paying these guys while they still have years left on their deals.  Great for the player, bad for the cap.

He literally said he wasn’t going to play for Oakland because they took away his guarantee. All he had to do was show up throughout the season and he would have made the money. I highly doubt he’ll do incentive based.

As a matter of fact I remember the Chris Gamble extension coming a couple days before the opener.

Extensions right before the season starts are fairly common. 

I feel like I remember Gamble and maybe gross getting extended it was during the 2008 season towards the end of the year

You think anyone is giving him significant guaranteed money? I highly doubt it. He won't come anywhere close to the $30M guaranteed that he got yanked out from under him in Oakland. When you get booted off of two teams in a matter of months for jackassery, no one is making a big bet on you until you prove the jackassery is over.
