Didn’t see that but good for TD and I’ll definitely be rooting for the Chargers over other AFC teams.

I don’t really see Trai or KK as leaders—quieter and not very vocal, and they’ve had inconsistent play. But they very well may get it on seniority and being here all along.

Both were involved in the McCoy visit welcome,  recruiting, and lobbying. I think that says something about their role on the team.

Still a little surprised McCoy isn’t a captain.

But makes sense I guess.  Panthers don’t vote like some teams I don’t think.   KK getting the nod over McCoy definitely fits if you are the team giving them out.  They are old school and don’t want to disrespect a vet Panther for the new guy at the same position.

But it has been pretty clear that McCoy is bringing something different to this team IMO.  But C patches have always been an overrated thing IMO

I thought we always had six captains. Why did we drop to 5 this year?

If should have been D: Luke, KK, McCoy(or Bradberry) O: Cam, Olsen CMC.

They used to.

In fact, a few weeks ago on the Mac Attack former player DeAngelo Williams told them of a situation when he was with the team where Cam was not voted a Captain by the players but Rivera gave Cam a C anyway.

Perhaps Rivera stopped allowing players to vote after that?

DWill still being sour I see. Panthers should ask for a cease and desist order against him.

Just read that article. DWill sounds like a bitter, bitter tool.

Maybe he is.

How do you feel about a player wearing a C when his teammates didn't vote him one?

Cam deserves the C. You can't believe what Williams says anyway, he is just a troll

If a player vote determines the picks for Captaincy then the vote should be followed.

If what DeAngelo said about the vote was untrue there would have been a flood of players debunking his comments -- none have.

It's ok to dislike him but to summarily dismiss his comments/observations just because you don't like him only makes you wrong.

Rivera said he was voted the same year that DWill is saying he wasn’t in that article.

Interesting catch on your part, leads to a couple of key articles.

Question for you, if DeAngelo lied why do you think Rivera and others didn't go on the record saying so?

Here's a very detailed article that quotes Smitty at length on how the voting works, etc...  http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap1000000212028/article/is-cam-newton-captainready-steve-smith-weighs-in

I would love to see someone in the local press ask Rowboat Ron is Captain picks are still strictly up to a player vote?  And if not, why not?

From the article:  Smith went on: "It's voted on by the players, and we have 53 guys that vote. So those 53 votes count and there's a lot of guys who get votes. And so, I know Cam got votes last year, but he didn't get enough votes, so it's not about whether one person believes he should or shouldn't -- it takes a whole team that votes on that, so it's really not up to one person to make that decision."

Is one person, namely Rivera, now making that decision?

Earlier in the thread @CRA indicated that he does not think the Panthers vote on Captains.

If true why would that change have been made vs. what Smitty described?
