AB could argue he sat out due to injury (foot) and player safety (finding an adequate new helmet).  The Raiders would have to show that it was conduct detrimental to the team.  Plenty of players sit out.  The Raiders have to show how AB missing time was above and beyond detrimental compared to what is really a common NFL occurrence.  

AB asking to be released, formal or not, would (in my humble opinion) be their strongest case to win arbitration.
