For those of you who wanted AB on here this past spring

He would file a grievance and most likely loose. He never showed up for anything, they fined him for that. Voiding his guaranteed money, since he didn’t even play a snap. He has nothing to go on.

If that is all there was, AB would win easily.  If anything, AB asking to be released will be the defining aspect of arbitration.

Think about it like this, you are a contractor. Win a job, get the advance, got the guarantee. Never show up. Who’s gonna wIn in court.

I skimmed the CBA and could see where "conduct detrimental" is defined. I'm guessing  they could argue the definition but I am sure there is precedent. There are also procedural stuff they could look for. I'm certain Drew and AB have a team of lawyers looking at this. The NFLPA will certainly take over.

Drew and AB personal lawyers would just be secondary at this stage. It’s all on the NFLPA. If it was a lawsuit not a grievance(or a lawsuit after the grievance) then AB’s lawyers would take over but for now they are just counsel to him.

And the CBA may require binding arbitration meaning they can't sue anyway. I mean you can always sue but it might not go anywhere...

Not sure an instagram post with some jibber jabber and the words release me is a formal request.   In fact, I thought maybe he was actually being metaphorical because in another post he uses the word free me.

Oh I am not saying the "release me" would be an automatic win in arbitration for the Raiders.  I just think that is the angle they'd have to go.

AB could argue he sat out due to injury (foot) and player safety (finding an adequate new helmet).  The Raiders would have to show that it was conduct detrimental to the team.  Plenty of players sit out.  The Raiders have to show how AB missing time was above and beyond detrimental compared to what is really a common NFL occurrence.

AB asking to be released, formal or not, would (in my humble opinion) be their strongest case to win arbitration.

Think about this. The company tells you that you can't drive your Chevy truck to work because it's not recommend by their Forman. He says you have to sell it and drive a Honda Ridgeline.
