Lol I think this was probably one of the more obvious moves. You can tell they like him and want to keep him around as long as possible. He's the son of a legend. I doubt he'd ever be a key guy, but he's got room to grow and he pushes himself. He's got something to prove. If/when injuries happen to one of the RBs on the 53, I think he'll do ok.
