It also cost us $1.2M since we guaranteed that amount when he agreed to his pay cut. Not really the end of the world and it was a hedge in case we did need him.

I know all too well how much he’s cost us. He shouldn’t have made the team last year at 5M.

I was all aboard screaming for Marty to cut him last year.  Hated that he got so much pt over the young guys while he didn't produce.  We were paying him more than i thought we should etc etc

But I hate to see him go now.

He was a nice mentor

Good teammate (see him sticking up for guys like Cam on cheap shots vs Atlanta)

And team player (taking a pay cut so we could sign McCoy)

The Panthers released undrafted rookie running back Elijah Holyfield and corner Kevon Seymour in addition to wide receiver Torrey Smith to make room for three players claimed off waivers. Claimed were receiver Brandon Zylstra, safety Natrell Jamerson and wide receiver Ray-Ray McCloud.

It's starting to look like Godwin may not make the practice squad either.

If they valued Godwin for the PR role as much as many have speculated, it likely wouldn’t have gotten to this point.

His production tailed off a bit after that first game.

It certainly looks like they soured on him.

His not even making the practice squad though?  Don't think any of us saw that coming.

I figured he would return to the practice squad, yes. I don’t think they soured on him that much. I still think Hogan will return punts, at least week one, and I do think that was part of their plan.

We’ll see. Pretty safe to say Godwin won’t be returning punts week one for Carolina. If he does, it’s a hell of a circuitous route to take.

Never know. Buffalo might return the favor for McCloud, or he could conceivably wind up somewhere else.

Remind me; What was the name of that receiver / return guy that kept getting passed back and forth between us and the Bills a while back?
