He wasn't even a 3rd rounder really. All the other teams had already selected. A comp 3rd rounder is really an early 4th rounder.

My point is teams rarely cut rookie draft picks before their first season let alone a 3rd/4th round QB. Especially when Cam's immediate future is uncertain.

There is a subset of the Panthers fan base who want players based on how they feel about the players personality and character. They like that Heinicke is a spunky try hard who will play hurt because he has heart and toughness, but they ignore that he he a scatter shot interception machine who made Allen look like Joe Montana.

Heinicke performed slighty better, Grier might have a bit more upside.
