Allen should not be QB2

the second string quarterback among this group is largely ornamental. if cam were to get seriously injured and not be able to play, we'd be shopping outside the organization for a veteran quarterback to start those games. there's no way they'd trust allen or grier to start nfl games right now. those two are the same age and we're just trying to find out which of them has long term nfl upside.

If true, someone should get fired because we have some legit talent on this team and a solid back up could still take this team deep in the playoffs

Well if Allen is not good and Cam can’t play we will have a high draft pick.  I consider another possibility, Allen goes Tom Brady mode in regular season and we win it all this year.

Most likely Cam plays for another 5-6 years and then we can talk about who will take over, now it’s too early.

Allen has still performed the best in real games. Even if it was Saints against back ups. The touch and poise was better than what anyone showed this preseason. He’s still the best back up.

Grier looks nervous as hell out there and he’s thrown a few picks that reflect that. I’ll give him the season and next preseason to improve.

At this point it’s just got to be something like Cam doesn’t like him or something because there’s no logic to this move. People can say ohh you obviously think you’re smarter than an nfl coach or you’re looking at pre season stats, no. You can CLEARLY tell Heineke is more developed, mobile, pocket presence and can operate the offense for touchdown drives. There’s just something else behind it.

No there’s not. It’s pretty simple. Heinicke is not durable enough and he doesn’t have a very strong arm. People wanna nitpick Grier’s passes — Heinicke threw some ducks too. They all do. Heinicke is a great story but doesn’t have the durability to hold up here.

REGULAR season stats

Heinicke 36/58 330 yards 1/3 TD to INT ratio. 61.7 rating

Allen 20/31 266 yards 2/0 TD to INT ratio.

108.8 rating.

Plus Heincke is small and has an injury history. Seems like an easy decision to me....

I liked Heincke a lot and had hoped he'd show out and get the job, but it didn't pan out. Those stats really help make your case, too.

Allen's our guy and if he has to go out on the field, I'll be cheering for him.

And Grier, he may be the future or not, but he's not the present yet. He needs to season for a season or two.

Still, this is Cam's team and Cam's town. Here's hoping Superman is back.

    • I went on a solo elk hunt in the Flat Tops. It was awesomely miserable. LOL It was a late season hunt, I think third season and it was forecasted to snap off cold with highs in the upper thirties and lows in the single digits. fug it, I'm going anyway. They were wrong. The highs were in the low 20s and the lows were in the negative teens. I shivered so hard the first night I thought my teeth were going to break. It was the only time I've ever been legit concerned that I might be in trouble. Crawled out of my sleeping bag and got a fire started and suffered through the night bundled up next to the fire. I slept the next two nights literally wearing every stitch of clothing I'd brought with Nalgenes full of near boiling water in the bottom of my sleeping bag. That was the only way to have non-frozen water in the morning anyway. There was about a foot of snow on the ground and the melt/freeze crust was almost enough to support your weight but you'd go crashing through just as you went or make your step. It was exhausting travel and every step sounded like a rifle shot. Hunting was basically impossible. I never saw an elk in those four days, only saw 5-6 deer. LOL It was brutal but I loved it. Absolutely beautiful country that is never been to before and haven't been back since. I needed that four day complete break from society fighting for my life against the elements. I'm weird like that.
    • The lack of production is especially surprising given how much effort the team put into coaxing the best from him.  In just six short years he’s had the opportunity to work with 3 different GMs, 7 different head coaches and 10 different starting quarterbacks.  There’s literally no excuse to be made that one of those combos didn’t work.  It might be time to look withIAN.
    • I would say maybe 8 in a tier by themselves and all but 2 where picked in the top of the first allen pat m stroud burrow jackson hurts (maybe) Herbert Stafford
