For the Seahawks, best case scenario is that Clowney re-signs, worst case scenario is that Clowney leaves in free agency and they receive a late 3rd round compensatory pick (at least 97th overall pick).

Texans worst case scenario (which was likely) is Clowney leaving and they get compensatory pick (at least 97th overall pick as well).  Best case scenario is that who knows where the Seahawks pick could land? Likely in the 82nd-90th range.  15 spots in the 3rd round makes a big difference imo, and they got a couple role players as well...

I wouldn't be mad if I was a Texans fan, knowing that Clowney would leave.  It's clearly the best trade they were offered.

You don't get comp picks for trades. No comp pick is coming to the Texans for Clowney.

I think it's a solid trade for both teams. Texans knew they weren't going to pay him his asking price so why let him sit unsigned on the bench all year, be a huge distraction and let him walk for a comp pick worse than what they are getting from Seahawks.

Only thing I would argue differently is worst case for Seattle is they give Clowney a 5 year, 100+ million contract, he goes back to being injury prone and never comes close to living up to that contract in Seattle, and the pick the Texans get from the trade becomes a perennial pro bowl pass rusher.
